During the Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival, restaurants throughout the alpine village feature uniquely designed menus paired with British Columbia wines. It is a wonderful way to be introduced to the wines of British Columbia and you can try a different restaurant every day. Sun Peaks Wine and Dine is held nightly and advance tickets are not required, however restaurant reservations are. Visit any participating restaurant to see their Wine and Dine menu and book your table!

Wine is food. So if you want to taste the diversity of the British Columbia wine culture, the Sun Peaks Wine In is an affordable way to sample a variety of wines at participating restaurants, bars and cafés. Purchase a wrist band for only $10 and for the duration of the Winter Okanagan Wine Festival, wear your wrist band and at the participating restaurants, you can buy a special flight of wines at a discount available to those who have purchased the wrist bands. It is a great and simple way to experience the wines of the Okanagan.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 13

Learn how to control your camera in various lighting situations when 'automatic' just doesn't yield acceptable results. Join fine art photographer Bill Fell for a hands on informative session. A practical 'how to' exposure talk will be followed by a photographic walk through the village and valley trail to practice various exposure and composition techniques. Lunch and wine, along with an informal critique of your morning's photos will follow the session. Participants are required to bring their own DSLR, and manual if you have it. Check that the camera batteries are fully charged as the walk will be outdoors and cold temperatures can quickly drain batteries. Also, be sure there is ample room on the camera's memory card for an active morning of shooting.

Holy! The response last year was overwhelming. Welcome to the 2nd Sun Peaks Wine Crawl. Guests will be divided into three different groups and each group will visit three different venues at the resort during the Wine Crawl. At each venue, a different snack is paired with Okanagan wines and set to a theme. Guests will visit the Sun Peaks Grand ballroom where Fresh is Best will sample their famous tortilla chips and dip; The Hearthstone Lodge will feature a fun blind wine and cheese session hosted by Dairy Farmer of Canada; and at the Upper Village Square, keep your jackets on as you enjoy the outdoors tasting various types of healthy snacks with wines and Rider Cider. The Wine Crawl needs you to be on time to start as the three groups move around together for the evening which adds the wonderful ingredient of meeting and making new friends as well. Guests will be assigned a starting point when they receive their ticket and we ask everyone to stay with their assigned group for the event.

The beginning of a good painting begins with a good glass of wine! Join Liz Derksen for a seasonal brunch and local Kamloops wine, while she guides you from blank canvas to masterpiece. Liz will provide step-by-step instruction to help you uncork your inner Van Gogh. All supplies will be provided, including a smock to keep your clothes clean. At the end of this session, your masterpiece is yours to keep!
The Spirited Après

One of the smash hits from last year return. Come join Cahilty Creek and Okanagan Spirits for one of the most unique events of the festival. Guest will get to taste award winning Okanagan Spirits Eau De Vie made from 100% British Columbia grown fruit. This is a wonderful après outdoor event slope side at Cahilty Creek and while you taste this amazing Eau de Vie, enjoy local handcrafted sausages, mulled wine and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. You do not want to miss it. Dress code snow suit formal to really show your style!

The famed Comforts of Grilled Cheese and Wine moves to a new time and venue this year! These unique event will be held at Bento's Day Lodge as an evening out. Join David Beaudoin, the cheese poet of British Columbia and ambassador for Dairy Farmers of Canada to devour artisan grilled cheese sandwiches paired with British Columbia wines. Eight different memorable Canadian grilled cheese sandwiches are served with a total 16 different wines from 8 different British Columbia wineries. Guests will love sampling grilled cheese and tasting and comparing different varietals and blends from the Okanagan Valley. Most fun of all, everyone will shout out their favourite grilled cheese and wine pairing!
SUNDAY, JANUARY 15
Pinot and Paper Lanterns

Have fun creating these luminescent paper lanterns, paired with hors d'oeurves and local Kamloops wine. These lanterns wonderfully add subtle ambiance to a dinner or garden party, and are perfect for indoor or outdoor use. For those travelling, not to worry! These beautiful lanterns fold up flat so they are easy to pack away to take home. Battery-operated LEDs (rather than candles) will be provided to light up your lantern.
Starbucks Sparkling Brunch

Whether you take first tracks and want a break, or you want to sleep in and enjoy something different, Starbucks Canada and the Okanagan Wine Festivals together with Voyageur Bistro welcome you to a nutritious four course breakfast with each course paired with a fresh French press coffee presented by Starbucks baristas and a beautiful British Columbia bubbly. If you didn't think café paired with bubbly, you will be interested to see how well they work together. This is an educational event so it will start promptly at 10:30am and we request everyone be on time because our great coffee and sparkling wine pairings await.

Informal. Relaxed. Fun. And not too serious. Join Kelly and the team at the Cahilty Creek Bar & Grill for the annual Blind wine tasting where guests taste several wines and identify their varietals from the choices. Guests will try to identify four different British Columbia red wines and four different British Columbia white wines. The evening is accompanied with great music, delectable appetizers, prizes and lots of fun. Whether you know a little or a lot about wines, the blind wine tasting always levels the playing field.
Moonlight Snowshoe & Mulled Wine

It is not the Winter Okanagan Wine Festival without a unique outdoor event. Experience the magic of a winter's night on a Moonlight Snowshoe Tour. This intimate outdoor evening begins with an easy 1km snowshoe tour and guided trek through beautiful forest trails. Enjoy time to relax around a roaring campfire at our cozy winter woodland camp. The return journey offers beautiful views overlooking the picturesque village and its sparkling lights! On our return to the village, enjoy mulled wine in the cozy atmosphere of the Sun Peaks Lodge Steakhouse, the perfect place to stay for an optional dinner.

Dinner with Cheese... A Unique Idea Presented by Dairy Farmers of Canada

The Voyageur Bistro and Dairy Farmers of Canada are pleased to host a celebration of the famous "runner of the woods" or Coureurs de Bois. These early independent entrepreneurial French-Canadian woodsmen who travelled in New France and the interior of North America, come back in spirit for this wonderful dinner. Fresh baked bannock with Okanagan wines, hearty soups, great Canadian cheeses and a warm winter repas is all you need to recreate the atmosphere of the early days. Join hosts Kevin Tessier, Proprietor of the Voyageur, wine educator Gerrit Van Staalduinen and David Beaudoin from Dairy Farmers of Canada as they bring alive the memories of the discovery of the new world in Canada.

This wonderful food and wine evening has become a hallmark of the Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival. Enjoy the culinary diversity of restaurants and caterers from throughout Sun Peaks as they come together to treat you to an evening of small plate creations paired with eight British Columbia wineries. Meet guests from around the world, listen to local live music and sample a wide range of freshly prepared culinary delights while meeting with wineries and learning about their success in British Columbia. As a special treat, a selection of fabulous Canadian cheeses will be presented by Dairy Farmers of Canada. This is a stand up event that starts promptly at 7pm so we ask that you be on time and please be sure to book early.

This is the first event held by 5Forty Café so come and support them and learn about the history of Cider-making in BC; and what's required to create great Ciders.

The British Columbia Wine Awards are British Columbia's oldest wine judging competition held every October as part of the Fall Okanagan Wine Festival—one of the Top 100 events in North America (American Tour Assn 2016).
