Sun Peaks, BC - Carrying strong momentum from last summer’s highly successful events strategy, Sun Peaks is anticipating another active summer attracting even more regional travellers and guests. Summer 2012 saw a 25 per cent increase in summer occupancy (July to September) proof Sun Peaks is continuing to be defined as a top summer destination in the Thompson Okanagan. Nightly reservations and sport event registration numbers are already pacing ahead of last year for July and August.
“We are already seeing strong occupancy numbers on some of the key upcoming weekends,” says Christopher Nicolson, president of Tourism Sun Peaks. “Our goal is to attract first time visitors to the resort, and provide a great experience for return guests. Guest comments indicate visitors want to return after their initial visit and discover the variety of activities in the community."
Summer 2013 highlights include the Summer Concert Series with iconic musical performances, along with brand new additions such as the West Coast Lumberjack Show on Summer Kick-off Weekend (June 28-30), a Global FMX motocross demonstration during the Canada Cup Mountain Bike Races (July 5-7), new entertainment and events during Canada’s Alpine Blossom Festival (August 2-5), the new 50 km North Face Dirty Feet Mountain Ultra & Relay, the Rebook Spartan Beast and Sprint Races, enhanced musical entertainment every weekend of the summer and other events.
Guests can create their ideal, customized weekend getaway by pairing these exciting events with Sun Peaks’ staple activities such as world class downhill mountain biking, golfing on the 18 hole Graham Cook designed course, lift accessed alpine hiking through stunning alpine blossoms, exploring cross country biking trails, canoeing and kayaking on nearby lakes and more.
Accommodation and event packages can be booked through Sun Peaks Central Reservations online at www.SunPeaksResort.com/packages or by calling 1-800-807-3257.
