Sun Peaks, BC - Thousands are anticipated to flock to Sun Peaks this weekend for the first free concert of the 2013 Sun Peaks Summer Concert Series. Canadian music legend Burton Cummings and his band will fill the evening air with classic hits and crowd favourites, plus other regional bands will be performing throughout the day.
“We are expecting a great turnout this weekend,” says Christopher Nicolson, president of Tourism Sun Peaks. “People will be enjoying the concert but also exploring our other summer experiences such as golfing, mountain biking, canoeing and others activities while taking part in the exciting village ambiance.”
Village restaurants and businesses are preparing for the large influx of guests, including a new beer garden with barbeque open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. above the concert venue on Sunbeam ski run.
Musical entertainment will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the village, ramping up to opening bands on the main stage beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burton Cummings and his band are set to perform at 7:00 p.m.

As chairs are not provided, guests are asked to bring blankets and lawn chairs so they are comfortable in the natural, outdoor amphitheater located on Sunbeam ski run. Evening weather can also be cooler in the alpine setting so appropriate clothing and footwear is also recommended.
