Sun Peaks, BC - Two new snow grooming machines arrived in the village this week. The machines have been added to the grooming arsenal as part of an ongoing renewal program. Worth over $700,000, the two Pisten Bully machines will lessen fuel and maintenance costs while providing an exceptional skiing surface for guests.
Sun Peaks Facts and Updates:
- Sun Peaks is the first resort scheduled to open in British Columbia on November 17, 2012
- Snowmaking began on the slopes on Saturday, October 20
- Ski Teams from around the country, including the Canadian National Ski Cross Team, will be training on the mountain as early as November 10
- Summer grooming crews have been hard at work glading and trimming the ski areas of Lower Burf, High Voltage, Hidden Valley, Chute and Last Chance trees
- A brand new Nordic Lodge located the East Village will become the new focal point of Nordic and snowshoe activities at the resort
- Mountain Man Dog Sledding dogs teams are now in training running every day to prepare for the season. They have stockpiled over a tonne of food and welcomed two new dogs to their family.
