Sun Peaks, BC - Sun Peaks’ alpine village will be bustling with holiday cheer and activities on December 15, 2012. Santa’s Alpine Visit will offer guests the opportunity for memorable outdoor Santa photos, artisan gift shopping and to experience a robust list of complimentary family activities.
“Our charming pedestrian village will be glowing with holiday lights and decorations,” says Janice Nankivell, Events Manager for Tourism Sun Peaks. “It will be the perfect winter wonderland for families to come and get in the holiday spirit while escaping the hustle and bustle of the city.”
Santa will be on hand for family photos in the snowy Village Square from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. He will be taking gift requests from all the boys and girls on his list. Professional photography from Alpine Images will be available for $10 for 5”x7” prints and $15 for a .jpg photo file. Guests are reminded to dress warmly as the photos will be taken outside.
Village restaurants will be offering a complimentary self-guided Restaurant Sampler tour. Mulled wine and chocolate treats are just a few examples of the tasty holiday fare created by Sun Peaks’ talented chefs and restaurateurs.
Families can take part in free winter and holiday activities around the village including a snowman making zone (complete with props), traditional maple taffy making and a Christmas story reading.
Activity operators will be on hand to preview some the activities available at Sun Peaks. Guests can visit with friendly Husky dogs from Mountain Man Adventures Dog Sledding Tours, sample snowshoeing with Discover Sun Peaks Adventures and meet the team from Sun Peaks Adventure Snowmobile Tours.
Ornament making will be offered for $2 per child from Art Zone Sun Peaks in the Fireside Lodge. Each child will be able to hand craft one ornament for their own Christmas tree.
>From 5:00pm to 7:00pm the village will be alive with the sound of caroling from the Kamloops Thompson Honor Choir providing the perfect background to peruse over 15 shops in Sun Peaks for inspired gift ideas.
