Master Development Plan
Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners Ltd

Ecosign, in conjunction with architect Mory Bergmeyer, developed the Sun Peaks Master Plan and designed the "look" of the resort, which reflects traditional alpine villages of Central Europe. The village’s architecture incorporates gabled rooflines, colourful façades, a variety of intriguing window treatments, and ornate signage. Covered pedestrian walkways known as "arcades" are also incorporated into the design of village buildings. Decks and balconies provide useable outdoor space and add interest to the buildings when viewed from the village street. Parking garages at Sun Peaks Resort are conveniently located underground, to preserve the pedestrian character of the village.

Further developments at Sun Peaks have involved the construction of new lifts and terrain on three local mountains, in addition to a recreation centre, a day lodge, an 18 hole golf course, conference and banquet facilities, and over 1,000 new dwelling units distributed amongst eight hotels, nine townhouse developments and 140 single family homes. The resort’s most recent development, the Residences at Sun Peaks, will complete the construction of the village core.

To date, total investment in the Sun Peaks Resort has exceeded CDN $400 million in the past 15 years, a very significant figure for the total building activity in the Thompson-Nicola Valley Regional District. The mountain resort continues to expand and now boasts a seasonal population of 250 residents and over 5,000 tourist beds.
