Cross Country Mountain Biking

Our cross country trail network offers abundant and diverse trail options so you can perfectly tailor a ride just for you. Discover exceptional riding opportunities at Sun Peaks this summer!

From mellow and meandering to expansive and challenging, the trails invading Mt. Morrisey and surrounding McGillivray Lake predate our legendary lift-accessed Bike Park and have quietly evolved for decades into a variable mecca of XC adventure. Please note that with the exception of Big Rock Ride, these trails are not patrolled; be safe, prepared, and always ride with a friend.

McGillivray Lake Trail
The best route to McGillivray Lake is via the Vista trailhead at the base of the Morrisey Express chairlift. Vista is a relatively flat grade to where it connects with the McGillivray Lake Trail, head southeast on McGillivray Lake Trail from Vista for a steady, low-grade climb out to the lake. Return via McGillivray Lake and Vista trails, or if you're feeling adventurous link up Otter Loop to Great Grey, or Black Bear back to Vista. The Vista and McGillivray Lake loop is about 10km round trip.

Big Rock Ride Lift-Accessed Trail
Big Rock Ride is our signature lift-accessed cross country trail, leading you from the top of the Sunburst Express chairlift along beautiful singletrack through meadows of wildflowers and forest to the top of the Sundance chairlift. From the top of Sundance, it's a quick and easy descent down to McGillivray Lake Forestry road where you can either return to the village, head out to the lake for a swim, or connect to the Mt. Morrisey trail network for a longer ride.
