As of this week, visitors to Sun Peaks Resort are enjoying the deepest and most impressive snow base in the resort’s history. In the 24 hours between March 11 and 12, Sun Peaks received 26 centimetres of new powder, a very generous dumping that helped the mid-mountain level base reach the 200-cm level.
“Our alpine snow base has been above 200 cm for many weeks but this latest snowfall has put the mid-mountain snow levels above two meters as well, said Jamie Tattersfield, head of Sun Peaks’ Mountain Operations. The record was exceeded three times before: in January, 1974, February 1997 and January 1999.
