Opening Day powder

Posted November 20, 2017

As the wait for the ski and snowboard season entered its final days last week it was clear something special was brewing in Sun Peaks. While the snow continued to fall and our teams were hard at work to prepare for the big day, anticipation was growing amongst locals and guests alike. Teased by the snow-covered peaks of Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey on all sides of our cozy village, it soon became apparent that this year’s winter opening day could be one for the books.

Boy, was it ever! As the first hint of sunrise warmed the sky on Saturday, November, 18, it revealed a huge selection of trails on all three of our mountains, plus 100% of our Nordic trails, ready to roll - an unprecedented amount of terrain for opening day. By 5:00am the coveted first chair on the Sunburst chairlift had been claimed, with the promise of fresh powder and immaculate corduroy the prize of the victors. Soon the front of the line at Sundance and Morrisey were also filled- a triple dose of first chair joy.

The excitement built. The clock ticked down. The ropes dropped. And so began the best opening day in the history of Sun Peaks Resort.

We’ve collected our favourite photos from Saturday for you to relive all the fun.
