It's on! On Friday, June 21, the Sunburst chairlift and Progression Park carpets started rolling to kick-off another season of lift-access summer fun in Sun Peaks.
The stoke was particularly high for mountain bikers as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sun Peaks Bike Park this summer. Friday was their first chance to catch a glimpse of some of the brand new trails we've been building with partners Lifetime Outdoor over the spring. With rain the day before giving way to glorious sunshine for opening day, perfect dirt was waiting at the top of the lift and we spied plenty of smiling faces among those on two wheels.
Hikers also took advantage of the sunny day on Friday as they explored the alpine trails and enjoyed the wildflowers that are already starting to bloom (early this year!). Elsewhere in the resort golfers were teeing off, the Mountain Spirit Festival and Nancy Greene's Little Big Golf Challenge were in full swing, and people were enjoying the plethora of summer activities on offer in Sun Peaks.
Here's a look at how the weekend fun unfolded:
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening weekend of the Bike Park and hiking! We hope you had an awesome time and we look forward to seeing you throughout the summer.
Coming up next is the Canada Day Long Weekend, jam packed with entertainment and activities in the village. Highlights include the Mountain of Beer and Chili Cook-Off, shows by the Laughing Loggers, tons of free activities for families, live music, and much, much more. See you up here!
