The Sun Peaks Family Cup 'All-Nations Celebration' takes Sun Peaks by storm once again, January 4 to 11!  The week of celebration consists of a variety of family focused activities, events, and all-ability competitions including signature races such as the Sun Peaks Family Cup Alpine Race and the Sun Peaks Kookaburra Cup Nordic Loppet.

***REGISTRATION FOR FAMILY CUP ALPINE RACE CLOSES AT 6pm ON FRIDAY, PLEASE STOP BY THE ADVENTURE CENTRE TO REGISTER.

Sunday January 4
Welcome Reception with Nancy Greene
Join former Olympian and Canadian Senator Nancy Greene for a special welcome at the Sun Peaks Grand Reading Room from 7:30pm-8:30pm.  Adventure Centre Staff will be on hand to go over exciting activities coming up for Family Cup events.

Monday January 5
Family Fun Dual Race
A fun Family Dual Race on Sunbeam platter lift from 4:00pm-6:00pm.  Ages 5 and up, the course is designed for all abilities.  Event is Free but registration is required on site.

Tuesday January 6
Family Fun Night at the Skating Rink
Join Mascot Harry the Bear at the Family Cup Skating Party & Family Fun Night at 5:00pm-6:30pm. Nothing is more Canadian than skating under the stars and warming up around a roaring campfire with fresh hot chocolate.  Free skating for kids 12 & under (Skate rental fees apply).

Wednesday January 7 
Kids Craft Night at Sundance Kids Centre
Join us at Sundance Kids Centre every Wednesday for a fun eveningof arts and crafts. Our awesome Kids Centre Staff help kids buildmasterpieces that they can take home! Ages 5 and up.

Gates Training 11:00am-2:00pm on Suncatcher practice race course. Suitable for all ages.

Thursday January 8 
Childrens Obstacle Course - FREE
Bring the children out to compete in a fun obstacle course and a chance to win medals. Meet at 10:00am at the bottom of the Sunbeam platter lift.  Categories include both male and female,open, youth (9–14), and children (8 & under). Keep your eyes peeledfor Harry Bear! Prizes and medals will be awarded directly after theevent. 

REGISTRATION FOR ALPINE RACE CLOSES AT 6pm ON FRIDAY- Please stop by the Adventure Centre to register for the Family Cup Alpine Race on Saturday.  Bib pick up will be at the top of the Suncatcher race course at 9:30am on race day.

Gates Training 11:00am-2:00pm on Suncatcher practice race course. Suitable for all ages.

Friday January 9
High Roller Mountain Marathon - FREE
This family fun event allows participants to cover all three mountains that Sun Peaks has to offer. Meet in the Village Day Lodge Breezeway at 10:00am.  Each participant will be required to visit a number of checkpoints in sequence where they will roll the dice;results will be recorded at each checkpoint. The awards ceremony will be held at the Family Cup Welcome Reception that evening.
 

Friday Race Series
Tune up for Saturday’s Family Cup Race with the Friday Race Series! This is a recreational racing event for all level of skiers and snowboarders, with participants split into various age categories.
 

Family Cup Welcome Reception - FREE
The welcome reception party is hosted by Tourism Sun Peaks in the M–Room at 5:00pm for participants in the Sun Peaks Family Cup events. The reception party is open to everyone and includes complimentary finger food. 

Saturday January 10
9th Annual Family Cup Race and Awards - FREE RACE REGISTRATION
Registration for Family Cup Alpine Race closes at 6pm on Friday, please stop by the Adventure Centre to register.  Bib pick up will be at 9:30am sharp at the top of the Suncatcher race course on race day.  

You will need your bib for course inspecition. The race is a held on a modified dual slalom course for children and adults of all ages and all abilities. Course inspection is at 9:45am and the race at 10:30am. Family and/or group members can choose to race against each other. Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd,and 3rd place in each age division (male and female), in both skiing and snowboarding, as well as the smallest time difference between two runs on a course by the same participant. There are also perpetual trophies awarded for the fastest family (minimum of 3 required), fastest group (minimum of 6 required), and overall nations award.

The awards ceremony will be held at Bento’s Day Lodge at 5:00pm, with Nancy Greene in attendance. 

Sunday January 11
The 6th Annual ‘Kookaburra Loppet’ Cross Country Ski Competition
This family fun event is open for all levels of XC Skiersstarting at 10:00am. Whether you’re an experiencedcompetitor or a Nordic first-timer, there will be a selection of courses to choose from starting and finishing near the Nordic Centre. The focus of this final event of the Family Cup – All Nations Celebrations is participation and friendly competition.

The Sun Peaks Family Cup event week has run for the last seven years, and is conducted by the Australian Sun Peaks Family Cup Committee in association with Canadian partners from Sun Peaks Resort and Tourism Sun Peaks.
