FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SUN PEAKS, BC (January 21, 2020): Staff and residents in Sun Peaks are joining forces to send support to friends and family back home in Australia. Masa’s Bar + Grill (Sun Peaks Resort) and Mantles Restaurant & Lounge (Sun Peaks Grand Hotel) are each hosting a Classic Sausage Sizzle on Saturday, January 25, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Guests are encouraged to grab a $5 ‘snag’ (Aussie term for a sausage) and $2 non-alcoholic beverage, with all proceeds going to organizations directly involved in the Australian bushfire relief efforts.

“Each year we welcome thousands of Australians to our resort community, not to mention hundreds of seasonal staff from Australia who work in Sun Peaks. We wanted to help in whatever way we can, and our teams expressed interest and passion in getting these events off the ground,” said Aidan Kelly, chief marketing officer for Sun Peaks Resort LLP. “With Australia Day coming up on the 26th, we felt that it was the best weekend to host fundraisers to help with the devastation that’s happening in a country so connected to us," he said.

Later Saturday evening, Masa’s Night Club will host an Australia Day Party from 10:00pm – 1:00am, with DJ SpunLogic. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going to relief efforts. Donations raised this evening will be matched by Sun Peaks Resort and the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel.

Food and drink specials will also be available from Friday to Sunday at Masa’s Bar + Grill and Morrisey’s Public House with partial proceeds from set menu items going to relief efforts.

Throughout January, several other Sun Peaks businesses have been coming up with creative ways to raise funds as well.
