Sun Peaks, BC (January 5, 2018) – The Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival returns for its 20th year with 20 premier events to enjoy from January 12 to 21.

From its humble beginnings as a two-day Ice Wine Festival, the Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival has grown to become an internationally recognized, ten-day celebration.

"The 20th anniversary of the Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival is fast approaching and we are looking forward to welcoming loyal and new guests to this long-standing marquee event,” said Arlene Schieven, President and CEO, Tourism Sun Peaks. “The wine festival events, coupled with a winter wonderland setting, provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate the best of our region’s wine and food, while enjoying a multitude of outdoor activities.”

New for 2018, the festival has introduced four events as a direct response to feedback received from attendees and emerging market trends: Exposure Beyond ‘Auto’, Iconic and Collectible Wines of BC with John Schreiner, House Concert with Wine and the Voyageur Brunch.

Blair Baldwin, General Manager, The Okanagan Wine Festivals society noted, “The festival is a testament to the phenomenal wine culture in the province.  British Columbia has now surpassed $1 billion in wine sales annually. Unique Canadian inspired wine and culinary events like Taste of Sun Peaks and Comforts of Grilled Cheese and Wine offer an inspired pairing for those who enjoy wine, food and skiing.”

As one of the largest winter gatherings of British Columbian wineries, guests will have the opportunity to taste over 150 different wines during the ten-day event, accompanied by culinary delights and the fresh mountain air of Canada’s second largest ski area. Ticket sales are already strong for 2018 with six events sold out and others filling quickly. For full event listings and ticket purchase options, please visit sunpeaksresort.com/wine-festival.
