FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SUN PEAKS, B.C. (February 7, 2020):

Sun Peaks community members and industry partners joined together to create the ultimate Canadian winter getaway package. The package, valued at over $10,000, will be donated to Snow Aid Australia, an online auction for bushfire relief and wildlife rescue organized by SnowsBest.com, Australia’s leading online snow editorial platform.

“Sun Peaks is home to hundreds of Australian staff and residents. We also welcome thousands of Australian guests each year, so it came as no surprise that the community wanted to donate whatever they could to this cause,” said Arlene Schieven, president and chief executive officer for Tourism Sun Peaks. “The amount of support we received was overwhelming,” she said.

Items in the package include:

  • Two return tickets from Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney, courtesy of Air Canada
  • Seven nights' accommodation for two, courtesy of the Sundance Lodge
  • Six-day alpine lift tickets for two, courtesy of Sun Peaks Resort LLP
  • Six-day performance rentals for two, courtesy of Jardines
  • Return Kamloops Airport transfers for two, courtesy of TasteFull Excursions
  • $1000 (CAN) Pre-paid Visa, courtesy of Sotheby’s International Realty at Sun Peaks

  • $100 gift certificate, courtesy of Sun Peaks Catering
  • One, one-hour massage, courtesy of Four Winds Massage Therapy and Yoga
  • $50 gift certificate, courtesy of Ohana Deli Market & Meals To Go
  • One Moonlight Snowshoe and S’Mores Tour for two, courtesy of Discover Sun Peaks Adventure

Plus:

  • Two adult admission passes including a round trip shuttle from downtown Vancouver, courtesy of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
  • Two Hop on Hop Off passes, courtesy of Landsea Tours & Adventures

“With deep personal and professional connections to Australia, we knew we needed to think beyond just what Sun Peaks could offer, so reaching out to Air Canada and our partners in Vancouver made sense,” said Colin Brost, director of market development for Tourism Sun Peaks. “To be able to offer such a significant and complete package is a testament to the industry.”

In addition to the TSP lead package, Sun Peaks Grand and Sun Peaks Resort LLP partnered with Australian Tour Operator Travelplan Ski and donated a seven-night package of their own to the auction.

On Australia Day, community fundraising efforts raised over $14,000 through creative events that included a Sausage Sizzle, with Sun Peaks Resort and Sun Peaks Grand matching entry-by-donation funds raised at a special Aussie Day Party. Sun Peaks Resort also set up a free, dedicated landline for Australians to use to check in on friends and family.

The Snow Aid Australia online auction goes live on Sunday, February 9 and closes Friday, February 21. For more information, visit: www.snowaidaustralia.com
