FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SUN PEAKS, BC (April 13, 2022): As winter ends, Sun Peaks prepares for an exciting summer with new events such as First Fridays and the return of familiar summer events including Retro Concert Weekend.

New this summer, Sun Peaks will kick start the first Friday of each month from July to September with free outdoor live music and entertainment. As part of this new event, the bands Maritime Kitchen Party and Paul Filek, will take to the Upper Village Stage in July and August respectively, while Shred Kelly will appear on the Slopeside Main Stage in September. Kinshira Entertainment will be performing alongside the music, with unique characters roving through the village stroll on stilts. An Artisan Market will also take place during each of the First Fridays where visitors can shop for unique, handmade gifts from independent vendors.

“We are excited to see the return of bigger events and animation alongside everything else Sun Peaks has to offer in the summer. Visitors can spend their days on the mountain – biking, hiking or simply sightseeing in nature - and then take in many of the evening and weekend events throughout the summer” says Arlene Schieven, President and CEO of Tourism Sun Peaks.

The fan favourite, Retro Concert Weekend will return to Sun Peaks this summer from August 26 – 28. Music lovers who favour the groovy, old time classics can jam out blast-to-past style as tribute bands take to the Slopeside Main Stage. Fans can expect to travel back in time with cover performances of hit songs from billboard chart toppers like ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, and ACDC. This Retro Concert Weekend will be the 11th annual in Sun Peaks and is sure to ignite vibrant summer energy.
