Nordic Skiing at Sun Peaks Resort

With more and more outdoor enthusiasts discovering our pristine trail network, Sun Peaks has quietly evolved into a favourite Nordic destination. Our unique location provides plenty of sunshine and perfect elevation for dry snow and consistent temperatures.

Impeccably groomed and track set trails are accessible right from the village and your hotel. Truly unique to Sun Peaks, experienced Nordic skiers can hop aboard the Morrisey Express chairlift for exceptional access to seemingly endless backcountry terrain and scenic mountain views off the Holy Cow trail. Or ski with the entire family—including the dog—on the pet-friendly route to the McGillivray Lake Outpost warming hut.

Use of the Morrisey Express Chairlift

Nordic day tickets include two rides up the Morrisey Express chairlift, taking Nordic skiers to the top of the Holy Cow trail. Holy Cow features several significant downhill sections and is best suited to confident intermediate or advanced Nordic skiers.
Note: use of alpine terrain (ski runs) is not permitted on a Nordic ticket or pass.

McGillivray Lake Outpost

Open daily from 9:00am to 3:30pm, the McGillivray Lake Outpost is a great place to rest, warm up, and use the washroom facilities.

Skiing with Your Dog

Dogs are allowed only on trails marked accordingly. Please stay on these designated trails with your dog(s) and respect on-leash requirements which are in place in limited areas to manage skier-dog challenges. Always have your pet under control. If the trail allows dogs to be off leash, make sure your dog is under voice control. No more than two dogs allowed per skier. Bags are provided, so please clean up after your pet.

Backcountry Trails

Backcountry trails are neither groomed nor patrolled and are not recommended for those new to the trail system or new to Nordic skiing. They are operated in conjunction with the Province of BC and the Kamloops Outdoor Club.
