Owner and General Manager of Sun Peaks Lodge & Steakhouse
Silvia moved from Germany to Sun Peaks in 2004. She and her husband Mario Erler took over the Sun Peaks Lodge & Steakhouse and have operated it since then.
Silvia started her career with a 3 year apprenticeship/vocational school in Germany as a hotel specialist in the hospitality and later did another apprenticeship in the travel & trade industry. To gain experience in different hotels and restaurants she worked in Austria, Switzerland, Australia, Bermuda, and Germany. After that she studied for 2 years Hotel Management in Germany. The last 3 years before coming to Sun Peaks she spent in Bermuda, working for the Fairmont Southampton Princess Hotel.
Silvia and her husband Mario Erler are full time residents in Sun Peaks and have a 9 year old daughter. Silvia likes to be involved in the Sun Peaks Community. Besides being on the Tourism Sun Peaks Board since 2011, she chaired the Municipalities Non-Resident Advisory Committee and is currently part of the Business Advisory Committee.
Together with other parents in Sun Peaks she was part of forming the Sun Peaks Education Society, which lead to the Sun Peaks Elementary school.
Peter Ernst – Commercial Tenant/Independent Director
I started my first business at Sun Peaks in 1998 and have been actively involved in the business community
since then. With a degree in business of the University of Osnabrueck, Germany, I started being self employed in 1982. I have also served on the Business Advisory Board at Sun Peaks Municipality.
I watched Sun Peaks grow from a small Resort to what it is now and love to be involved in growing it to
its next level.
John Douglas – Hotel Lodging Director
Have been in the Ski Resort Industry for 26 years. Spending 10 years in Whistler, 4 years at Panorama, 9 years in Sun Peaks and 1 plus years at Kananaskis.
Started in Whsitler as the Controller at Nancy Greene's Olympic Lodge, then GM at the Crystal Lodge. While in Panorama was the Director of Lodging and Village Operations. While in Kananaskis/Waterton worked for the Receiver to either shut down or turn around these properties. Eventually purchased R.A. Resort Property Management Ltd from Al Raine in 2007.
Have been a Director on the Board of TSP for a number of years and the last 2 as Vice Chair. I also sit on the Board of the BC Hotel Association (6 years). Own a home in Sun Peaks and plan to be an active participant for at least another 7 to 8 years.
