• Flow Zone. Buffed mid-set.

Recent Maintenance

• Bermalade. Repairs to braking bumps and holes on lower section. 

• Holy Rollers. Repairs to braking bumps and holes.

• Honey Drop. Continuing repairs from Canada Cup Finals and BC Cup race weekend. 

• Level Up (Progression Park). Repairs made to rain ruts and loose rocks raked off trail.

• Peaks Pedal Fest. Set up and take down of Grass Slalom (we hope everyone had a blast!). 

• Resurrection. Continuing repairs from the Canada Cup Finals and BC Cup race weekend. 

• Steam Shovel. Trail buffed.

• Sweet One. Repairs to chute/drops at the entrance. Clean up of silt and sand on upper section. Rock picking and repairs on lower section. 

• Super Nugget. Repairs to rain ruts.

Coming Soon

• Dr. Feelgood. Continue to buff section of trail between Sunburst Lodge and Tod Lake. Machine work continues beyond Tod Lake with flagged sections being cleared to allow machine access. 
• New Blue Tech On Sundance. Trail construction continues.

Recent Maintenance

• Biker Cross. Repairs to the end section of the trail using walk behind soil conditioner and plate tamper.

• Canada Line. Repairs to holes and berms.
  

• DH. Extensive repairs to corners and ruts.
  
  
  
  

• DH Race Course. Finish area dismantled. Area cleaned up and returned to its previous state for concert weekends. Start gate removed from top of Insanity One.

• Flow Zone. Repairs to jumps. Water damage repairs.

• General Maintenance. Continued clean-up of work sites around trails. Milling wood for bridge construction.

• Resurrection. Race course build removed. Trail returned to original state.

• Smitty’s Steeps. Repairs to ruts and braking bumps.

• Steam Shovel. Changes to trail entrance. First berm changed to modify trail speed for first feature.

• Stella Blue. Repairs to holes and braking bumps. Repairs to ski run crossing section using walk behind soil conditioner and plate tamper.

• Super Nugget. Repairs to ski run crossing using walk behind soil conditioner and plate tamper. Machine work to modify features on section of trail where Super Nugget and Bad Habit merge, including step up jump (changed to a roller), hip jump (rebuilt to be less off the side of the trail), and step down (distance to landing has been shortened and landing has been extended).

The rain last week allowed us to hit lots of spots around the hill and our new soil conditioner has made repairs much more efficient. We're looking forward to more rain!

Recently Opened

• Platter Jump Park (Progression Park). We are very proud to have opened the new jump park in the Progression Park. Big thanks to Rick Boles and the rest of the Trail Crew for creating our newest fun zone.
  

Recent Maintenance

• Bermalade. Repairs to braking bumps and holes.

• DH Race Course. Repairs to all trails in the course (Insanity One, Sticky One, Honey Drop, and Resurrection) following the Dunbar Summer Series/Canada Cup Finals DH race.

• Stella Blue. Repairs to braking bumps and holes.

• Super Nugget (Lower). Maintenance work done on jump lips and landings. Changes and widening on the final gap jump near the bottom

Notes From Trail Crew

We are continuing to make repairs throughout the Bike Park after the heavy rain (finally!) that occurred on Tuesday evening.

A big thank you to all of the Sun Peaks departments, volunteers, racers, parents, and supporters that made last weekend’s Dunbar Summer Series/Canada Cup downhill race a huge success! Don’t forget that this weekend is Retro Weekend at beautiful Sun Peaks. See you on the hill!

Recent Maintenance

• Arm Pump. Taped off the optional line from Arm Pump onto Bermalade. Riders can no longer ride over the berm and merge onto Bermalade.

• Bermalade. Repairs to jumps and braking bumps on last two features, as well as at trail exit. New temporary exit created to avoid end of DH race course. For this weekend, exit of Bermalade will now run across the ski run and merge with the bottom section of Arm Pump/Bonus Level.
  
  
  

• DH Race Course. New berms and step-down jump constructed as part of the new finish area. Loose rocks removed.

• General Maintenance. More plywood clean up throughout Bike Park.

• Insanity One. Rebuild on Hollywood drop and repairs to ski run crossing section. 

• Stella Blue (Lower). Trail repairs.

• Super Nugget. Entrance to trail may look different due to new signage being installed between the Grannie Greene’s and Homesteader ski runs. Trail entrance will be altered to accommodate the sign installation.

• Sweet One. Trail will be affected by the race course route this weekend. Be aware of trail changes and closures.

Notes From Trail Crew

Thanks to the Kootenay Adaptive Sport Association for joining us in the Bike Park this week. We had the chance to look at some of our trails, chat about where they would fall within the adaptive trail rating standards, and discuss ways we can make Sun Peaks Bike Park more accessible for aMTB riders. Canada Cup race weekend is here! Along with closures of the race course trails, Sweet One and Bermalade will have alternate exits this weekend due to the new race course finish area. Please be aware of changes and respect any trail closures. Good luck to everyone racing!

• Altitude. Bridge repairs.
• Behind Bars. Loose rocks removed.
• Bermalade. Dirt work repairs.
• Canada Line. Holes repaired. Repairs to a section of trail previously covered by plywood. Raked and loose rocks removed on the section of trail below wall rides.
• Cat Trax. Loose rocks removed.
• DH Race Course. Construction of new finish area between Sunburst Express and Sundance Express chairlifts.
  
• General Maintenance. Plywood clean-up on Canada Line and Steam Shovel.
• Insanity One. Holes repaired and repairs to blown out sections of trail. Repairs to ski run crossing sections.

• Route 66. Loose rocks removed.
• Stella Blue (Lower). Dirt work repairs.
• Sugar. Raked and loose rocks removed. Bridge repairs.
• Super Nugget. Culvert removed to be reburied deeper underground.
• Sweet One. Raked and loose rocks removed.

Coming Soon

• Dr. Feelgood. Bridge construction ongoing. Machine work currently halted due to fire danger rating, however we hope to resume this work soon if rain and cool temperatures continue.
• New Blue Tech On Sundance. Hand building and removing duff.
• Progression Park. Hand shaping of berms and jumps. Construction of wooden features. We hope to have this project completed by early next week.

Recent rain and cooler temps have seen the fire danger rating drop – yay! Shout out to the Sun Peaks Resort Slopes Crew who have been a huge help this week. With machinery shut down earlier in the week due to the fire danger rating, they have been lending a hand on the bike trails alongside Trail Crew. Thank you!

Recent Maintenance

• Bad Habit. Holes repaired.
• Biker Cross. Holes repaired and loose rocks removed.
• Bonus Level (Progression Park). Raked and rock picked.
  
• DH Race Course. Sight lines improved. Holes repaired throughout. Clean up of tech sections, and removal of loose rocks and roots on Resurrection. Dirt work done to repair exit of rock roll on Sticky One.
• General Projects. Many cattleguards removed and cleaned up. Old decommissioned bridges have been removed from trails.
• Honey Drop. Loose rocks removed and trail buffed.
• Mach. Sniper rock removed at intersection with Sweater Vest.
• Might As Well. Holes repaired.
• Repeat Offender. Rotten woodwork removed. Dirt beneath bridge buffed to be rideable.
• Super Nugget. Buffed and repairs done on upper section.
• Sweet One. Bridge repairs. Drops at entrance have been raked and loose rocks have been removed.

Coming Soon

• Dr. Feelgood. Bridge construction continues. Machine work currently halted due to fire danger rating.
  
• New Blue Tech On Sundance. A new blue tech trail is currently under construction on Sundance. The crew has made good progress with hand tools, however construction is currently halted until the fire danger rating lowers enough to allow the use of chainsaws and machines.
• Progression Park. Dump trucks are delivering dirt to base of the Progression Park daily prior to Bike Park opening for new trail and feature construction. New wooden features also under construction.

With the fire danger rating currently at ‘Extreme’, Provincial restrictions prevent us from working with machines or chainsaws at this time. We are looking forward to getting back to work on the new trails as soon as it is safe to do so. We appreciate your patience while we wait for cooler temps and rain!

• Insanity One. Bridge repairs.
• Pinball Wizard (Progression Park). Wet section has worsened. Plywood has been placed over this section so trail can remain open.
• Repeat Offender. Bridge repairs.
• Resurrection. Water damage repairs.
• Root Dog. Bridge repairs.
• Steam Shovel. Plywood removal.
• Stella Blue. Modifications made to feature 27 (low table into rollers). A roller was removed to allow trail to ride smoother at trail speed.
  
• Sugar. Bridge repair. Weed whacked and raked.
• Super Nugget. Modifications to new build in lower section. Extended table (after step down) to match trail speed.

The large volume of water that came with the hail storm earlier this week did damage to many of our trails. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we catch up! Trail work that was completed earlier in the week may look different after the storm.

• Canada Line. Temporary fix of exposed culvert below Old Homesteader Road.

• Cedar Twist & Calypso Groove. Ski run crossings weed whacked and raked.

• Insanity One. Holes repaired.

• Progression Park. Skinny bridges added back to mid-station area.

• Resurrection. Repaired berm and filled in ruts caused by spring melt on lower section of trail.

• Spicy Taco. Shaping and repairs to berms. Removal of loose roots.

• Sticky One. Some dirt work to fix holes. Major repairs to rock roll exit.

• Sweater Vest. Rebuild of lips on jumps.

• Dr. Feelgood. Working behind excavator to buff and shape trail.
  
• Gummy Bear/Mach. New lower section of trail being hand built, which will allow us to remove the merge onto lower Barn Burner. The old lower section of Mach/Gummy Bear (after merge) was damaged beyond repair during spring melt.
  
• McGillivray Lake Trail. New connector trail complete from Vista Trail to McGillivray Lake Trail.

Recently Opened

• Bad Habit. Repairs completed on areas of water damage.
• Honey Drop. 10 fallen trees cleared, winter debris removed, and sections of trail repaired.
• Lower Super Nugget. Large rebuild complete for a section of trail affected by water damage. Rebuilt section includes a new step down and table. Wooden bridge completed at Level Up crossing. Shout out to Trail Crew members Scott Wicks, Rick Boles, and Avi Falcon for their work on these projects!
  
  
• Progression Park Skills Area. Two out of the three wooden drops have been rebuilt.
  
• Side Quest (Progression Park). A section of this trail was dug up to repair a snowmaking hydrant. New drainage has been installed and the trail has been repaired.
• Sugar. Bridge repairs completed on several sections of the trail.

• DH. Dirt work done on Upper DH to repair holes. Weed whacked and raked.
