cheers with friends on morrisey's patio having a meal

Sun Peaks often lives up to its reputation for plenty of blue skies and high fives on the slopes through spring. And as March gives way to April, events and festivities return to full swing with the bright mountain weather.

Whether you have a spring skiing tradition of your own or want to start a new one with your friends and family this year, here are seven reasons you should visit Sun Peaks in March or April.

#1: Sample the Sun Peaks food scene

March 28–31 you can Choose from nine specially themed events showcasing the local flavour of Sun Peaks.

Culinary events featuring classic ski town fare, with a twist—your favourite take on French Fries paired with BC sparkling wine, live music paired with local beer and cider stations, and patio party apres-ski vibes (to name a few)—all right in the village, a stone’s throw from your accommodations.

#4: The après-ski scene really shines in spring

Spring is the best time of year for après-ski patio celebrations, as spring temperatures seep through the village core and the sun soaks patios on the mountain—and secluded picnic spots, too! If the après scene isn’t for you, try packing your bag lunch up the lift with you to your favourite lookout or hike (please pack out what you pack in).

#5: that famous Spring Skiing sunshine

The month of March offers plenty of snow and sunshine in the mountains of interior British Columbia. April is famous for long days with soft, forgiving spring snow conditions later in the day when the rays warm the slopes, and the last week of the winter season is something you truly have to experience for yourself.

#6: make the most of your visit with Longer Lift & Daylight Hours

Morrisey and Sundance mountain lifts stay open until 4pm after February 1st. So it’s okay to sleep in and ski the afternoon away. Keep in mind powder days regularly happen right through spring and beyond closing day, so it never hurts to have your mountain go-bag packed the night before.

From family ski days to family-friendly activities savouring the final moments of winter in the mountains, warmer spring temperatures and longer days mean more hours of sunshine to spend outdoors with your crew.

#7: Close out your winter season in style with A traditional Tod Mountain spring sendoff

You'll find spring-skiing themed events throughout Sun Peaks until the chairlifts close for the winter season on April 7th, and milder spring weather brings locals and resort guests back outdoors to celebrate the changing seasons.

Spring events on and off the mountain are great opportunities to sport your parent’s fluorescent one-piece ski suit or some good old jeans tucked into your snowboard boots. Silly outfits abound in ski resorts as the daily need for GoreTex declines, and your thrift-shop finds will be in good company!
