Snowboarder in blue jacket rides a powder covered groomer with the Village in the distance

Posted November 23, 2023

Ski and ride season has arrived! The lifts started spinning for winter 2023-24 on Saturday, November 18, and we're stoked to be welcoming guests back to the trails for another amazing season at Canada's Second Largest. Here's what's new for the season ahead:

NEW SKI RUN AND ENHANCED GLADING

Map of the Orient chairlift area featuring the new run, Kia Ora.

Continuing with our international theme, we've added a new run in the Orient zone of the resort. Kia Ora has been introduced after some extensive summer grooming efforts.

In addition, we've undertaken some significant glading enhancements in the area around Three Bears as well as both skiers left and right of the Orient chairlift. This has resulted in 17 acres of new lines to explore in the trees.

UPGRADED GROOMING

Once again, Sun Peaks has invested significantly to ensure the premium corduroy we are known for around the world is delivered each and every day. We've boosted our fleet of low emission grooming machines with the purchase of two new, state-of-the-art Pisten Bully groomers, including a new park cat.

Keep an eye on our grooming efforts each day via the Lifts & Trail Status page.

 THE BEARS' LAIR

Brand new for this season is the first phase of our kids' Adventure Zone - Bears' Lair - including a skiable area specially designed for little shredders. Once kids enter through the Bears' Lair's secret entrance, they will discover different bear characters hiding throughout the forest, ending with a photo op sign to capture the fun.

More Parking - MAKING IT EASIER TO GET ON SNOW

Vast terrain means that it is easy to find room to move at Sun Peaks. This season, finding a place to park before your snow day will also be easier. A new parking lot is being built at the entrance to the community, right beside the Burfield chairlift, a local favourite.

The new lot named P1 will be open for early winter season and will include space for up to 60 vehicles, along with a public boot change and washroom facility.

THE FABULOUS LIFE OF NANCY GREENE RAINE

A blue background with green and orange text that reads 'N.G.R. The Fabulous Life of Nancy Greene Raine'.

N.G.R. has spent a lifetime showing the world what it means to love a sport. As a ski racer, coach, Olympic champ, mountain resort visionary and Canadian Senator, Nancy Greene Raine is an inter-generational household name for many Canadians. But how much do you really know about Sun Peaks’ local celebrity?

Turning 80 in 2023 and surpassing a milestone that a younger N.G.R. had never predicted, she’s left her footprint on both the resort and sports communities she’s led. Not only has she constantly empowered the next generation of skiers, she helped put Sun Peaks on the map as a world-class destination, and a welcoming community. A place where whether you're a local or a visitor, you always feel at home.

We are proud to have partnered with Tourism Sun Peaks in presenting The Fabulous Life of Nancy Greene Raine, a 10-minute short film dedicated to the story of 'Canada's Golden Girl'.
