FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SUN PEAKS, BC (April 4, 2022): Sixty seasons of skiing the slopes of Tod Mountain comes to a celebratory close this weekend, April 9 - 10, with the return of a classic spring festival at Sun Peaks Resort. Wonder Weekend, as it was fondly known in the 1970s, has been revived, for its epic après and spring vibe. The Resort will host a variety of events, including well known favourites along with new additions.

“We’re so excited to once again be able to host our closing weekend spring festival, this year connecting it to our 60th Anniversary season,” says Christina Antoniak, Director of Communications, Sun Peaks Resort. “It’s all about getting together with friends and family and enjoying those final turns of the season in fun spring conditions. We’ll see the return of the popular Slush Cup, a long-standing favourite of locals and guests, and the launch of the all-new Snow Way Down Bike Slalom, which is also going to be a huge hit.”

All weekend long, skiers and boarders are encouraged to sport their favourite retro threads and to share their photos on social media using hashtag #SunPeaks for a chance to win resort gift cards. Lift and a Lager presented by Coors Original returns on Saturday at the Sunburst Lodge at mid-mountain, where each day ticket and season pass comes with a can of beer*. On Saturday and Sunday afternoon for après, DJs will be spinning live at the Groove Zone, slopeside of Masa’s Bar + Grill and Bottoms Bar and Grill patios.

Special edition 60th Anniversary Mountain Cards (RFID cards for season pass and day ticket holders) are still available for purchase, featuring the 60th artwork ‘Dreams Aglow’ by Zuzy Rocka. Visit Guest Services to purchase, available for $5.

The 60 Years of Tod art exhibition, presented by the ArtZone Sun Peaks, is open in the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel through closing weekend. Guests can stroll the lobby spaces to view 60th inspired artwork by eight local artists, which are also available for purchase.
