Thank You for the Memories! Winter 2019-20 Photo Recap

Posted March 25, 2020

Well winter 2020, it’s been a wild ride.

After plenty of party vibes for opening day, the first few weeks of the season were followed by a wave of massive storms from mid-December through January. These storms dropped record breaking amounts of snow on our three mountains and left plenty of smiling, snow-encrusted faces in their wake. The top ups continued in February, bringing more fantastic conditions, a huge snow base, and happy snow sliders.

We won't be forgetting these crazy deep turns in a hurry. Taken December 31, 2019.

Sun drenched slopes, perfect patio weather, and glorious groomers started in March, along with a stacked line up of awesome events. The deep snow base and beautiful sunny skies promised an incredible spring skiing season ahead.

And then it came to a quick and unexpected halt. The decision to close Sun Peaks Resort early this season was one of the most challenging we’ve ever had to make. Given the current situation we know it was the right one to keep our guests, staff, and local community safe. We hope everyone stays healthy and we look forward to seeing you in the Bike Park, out enjoying the hiking trails, on the golf course, or on the slopes in the near future.

For now though, we want to revisit some happy memories that were made in the mountains this winter. Check out our photo recap below to relive the highlights from this season:

Every year we say thank you to our staff and volunteers at the end of the winter, but this year in particular we want to publicly acknowledge every single member of the Sun Peaks Resort team. Whether you are a seasonal employee who joined us for the winter or a long-time staff member or volunteer, your hard work, good spirits, and attentiveness to our guests, particularly during the unprecedented situation we experienced during the last few days of the season, warms our hearts. We are truly grateful to you all.

We will continue to support our teams to the best of our ability through any challenges in the weeks to come. For those heading out, we hope you leave here with the best of memories, new friends for life, and a place that you can always call home.

Of course, we also want to say thank you to all of our season pass holders, Canadian and international guests, and members of the local community for your ongoing support of Sun Peaks Resort. For all those affected by the early closure, please stay tuned to our website, emails, and social media channels as we will continue to provide updates over the coming weeks.

Thanks for another great winter, stay safe and connected to your loved ones, and we hope to see you in the mountains again soon!
