FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SUN PEAKS, BC (March 4, 2021):

World Travel & Tourism Council awards SafeTravels Stamp to Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks has been awarded the SafeTravels Stamp by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The SafeTravels Stamp is an internationally recognized self-certification that was developed in collaboration of WTTC members, leading industry partners and international travel organizations.

Work began in March 2020, between Sun Peaks Resort LLP, Tourism Sun Peaks and Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality to ensure local businesses had the tools and resources required to safely re-open. These protocols remain in place and continue to evolve in accordance to the Provincial Health Office.

As the Destination Marketing Organization, Tourism Sun Peaks applied for the SafeTravels Stamp on behalf of the independent businesses which include Sun Peaks Resort LLP. The application evaluated the operational safety and hygiene practices in Sun Peaks to ensure all protocols aligned with the WTTC’s Global Safe Travels Protocols.

“We applaud the work, creativity and innovation that our business community has put in place to safely operate.” says Arlene Schieven, President and CEO of Tourism Sun Peaks. “The SafeTravels Stamp recognizes those efforts and help instill confidence in our future guests.”

As domestic and international travel resumes, the SafeTravels Stamp will help travelers easily recognize Sun Peaks as a safe destination to visit.
