Dec 15 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SUN PEAKS, BC (December 15, 2021):

It is with great enthusiasm that we share the news that COVID-19 testing will be available right in Sun Peaks. Access to COVID-19 testing in Sun Peaks helps protect those who live, work, and play in our mountain home and alleviates the need to travel to Kamloops for testing.

There will be two separate testing procedures - one for symptomatic residents, guests, and employees who may have come in contact with COVID-19 and one for travellers seeking confirmation of a negative test to fulfill travel requirements.

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19

Sun Peaks Community Health Centre (SPCHC) has partnered with Interior Health to provide COVID-19 testing in Sun Peaks. Starting December 17th, symptomatic community members and guests will be able to make an appointment with the SPCHC by calling 778-644-0635 and can receive a test between 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. on December 17th, 20th, 22nd, and 29th. Testing resumes on January 5th, 2022 and will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A physician will conduct a swab-test through the window of your vehicle directly outside the Community Health Centre. Individuals without a vehicle are asked to advise the receptionist when making their appointment.

If you are travelling

Testing for travellers will be conducted by RN Collaborate, an independent, certified testing company.

Travellers requiring a negative COVID-19 test to return home will have access to Rapid Antigen, Molecular, including PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) or NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) tests. Guests are required to book an appointment at least 14 days prior to departure. Walk-ins will not be permitted. Those who require test appointments prior to December 21st are asked to arrange a time and location with RN Collaborate. After December 21st, testing will take place in a small clinic beside the entrance to the Tourism Sun Peaks office at 3250 Village way. For more information on dates and times please visit COVID-19 Testing for Travellers.
