FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Sun Peaks, BC (March 21, 2017) - Sun Peaks Resort is pleased to announce major infrastructure projects through a multi-million dollar investment to enhance overall guest experience. After consecutive summer and winter seasons of strong performance, the resort is well positioned to take another significant step forward with complete remodels of two key food and beverage outlets.

Sunburst Lodge, located at mid-mountain, is the signature on mountain eatery for skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, hikers, and sightseers. The lodge will double in size with a significant increase in capacity highlighted by additional seating on both levels, a complete overhaul of the food service area and ordering process, a full service bar, and a new break area for ski teams in the winter months.

Bento’s Day Lodge, a family friendly cafeteria style facility in the village base, will receive a 45% increase in capacity and a full interior remodel. This project will grow the food service options and include casual, quick service style dining, new contemporary food choices, and a cozy seating area. Already a multi-purpose space, Bento’s will now be able to host even larger groups and events in the non-winter months. It will continue to be the hub for season pass holders and day visitors while also appealing to destination guests.

“The timing is right for these substantial projects to take place. It’s important that we continually enhance the guest experience in Sun Peaks and this multi-million dollar revitalization of Sunburst and Bento’s lodges will go a long way toward boosting our food and beverage offerings,” says Darcy Alexander, Vice-President and General Manager.

The projects are the next step in the Master Development Plan that has been followed closely for the past two decades and has enabled Sun Peaks Resort to evolve into a world class destination. This investment is the first component in a series of projects to be rolled out over the coming seasons due to the momentum generated by increases in visitation, real estate activity, and overall community growth.

“We are proud of the destination we have created at Sun Peaks, but need to continually reinvest and improve our offerings to stay competitive and allow for future growth. These projects are a direct result of guest feedback and should be exciting news for many. As we keep evolving on a year round basis, these key services are essential,” says Alexander.

The multi-million dollar investment is a commitment to the future of Sun Peaks and will allow the resort to continue building on its reputation as a leading mountain destination in Canada. Construction on these two facilities will begin shortly after the closing of winter operations and will continue through the summer. Both projects will be complete and reopen for business in November to coincide with the beginning of another exciting ski season.
