Empowering the Next Generation of Ski Patrol Leaders!

Join us on March 8, 2026, for Junior Ladies Patrol Day, proudly presented by Helly Hansen at Sun Peaks Resort. An event designed to introduce young women and members of the LGBTQ+ community to the exciting world of ski patrol and the ski industry! This event aims to inspire and educate young women ages 12 and up about the many essential roles within the ski patrol team, while fostering a sense of empowerment, teamwork, and confidence. Our patrol and dispatch team will provide an opportunity to learn new skills, meet inspiring role models, and experience first-hand the vital work that keeps the mountain safe.

Throughout the day, participants will dive into the exciting world of ski patrol through fun, demonstrative, interactive stations and activities led by professional patrol members. Here’s an overview of the day, and a look at the workshops and the skills you will learn:

  • Mountain Tour and Behind the Scenes insider: Experience how ski patrol keep the mountain safe: covering on-hill presence, sign and rope management, and get hands-on experience with gear and techniques used to assess avalanche risks.
  • Clinic Tour and First Aid: Watch basic first-aid demonstrations for handling common ski injuries in a mountain environment, and the vehicles used to transport those injured.
  • Toboggan Demonstrations: Learn how ski patrollers work together to safely transport injured skiers down the mountain with toboggans and sleds.
  • Teamwork and Leadership: Through each activity, you'll also develop teamwork and leadership skills as you work together with other girls to solve challenges and support each other.
  • Prizes for all: Each participant will receive a goody bag from Helly Hansen, and have the chance to win a Helly Hansen gear kit worth $800, or one of two Helly Hansen baselayer sets.

What to Bring

  • Ski or snowboard gear 
  • Helmets are mandatory
  • Warm clothing for outdoor activities (layers are recommended)
  • Glove liners and gloves or mitts
  • The participant's season pass or lift ticket, valid for March 8, 2026
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn!

Safety First!

Safety is our top priority. All activities will be led by experienced ski patrol members, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Some activities are demonstrative only.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Entrants must be able to ride most terrain on the mountain with confidence.
  • Must meet the minimum age requirement, regardless of riding ability.
  • There are 30 spots available in total. Registration will close once full.
  • Helmets are mandatory, so don't forget your lid.
  • No exceptions will be made. 

*We reserve the right to remove participants from the event should they fail to meet conditions.
