This season we introduce you to a new take on a favourite activity here in Sun Peaks—the Alpine Fondue & Starlight Descent.
After the slopes have cleared and the mountains have fallen silent for the day, you’ll board the Sunburst Express chairlift for an exclusive twilight ride to the newly renovated Sunburst Bar + Eatery, mid-mountain restaurant. With fellow diners you’ll enjoy stunning views of sunset down the valley (in the later winter months), while darkness falls across the resort.
A warm welcome awaits at the top, where you’ll be transported to 'The Alps' with a hearty three course fondue meal and traditional Swiss music. Borrowing from the European inspiration of our village and our Executive Chef’s roots in the alpine hamlets of Switzerland, our Swiss-style fondue centres on the three loves of European cuisine: rich cheese, mouth watering cuts of meat, and, of course, decadent chocolate.
After dinner, one last treat beckons. Walking out into the alpine night will reveal a freshly groomed 5 Mile run glittering in the moonlight. With the help of a head torch and a guide, you’ll click into your bindings and descend back to the warm glow of the village lights, while a myriad of stars blaze overhead in the crisp mountain air.

Participants need to be a intermediate ski/snowboard level and comfortable on blue terrain.
Tickets must be purchased in advance from the Activities Desk in the Village Day Lodge by 11:00am on the day.

Meet Our Chef
Sun Peaks Resorts’ on-mountain dining experiences (Masa’s Bar + Grill, The Annex, Sunburst Bar + Eatery, Café Soleil and Umbrella Café) are overseen by our Executive Chef Hans Stierli. Hans honed his craft in the mountains of his native Switzerland and joined our team after decades of experience running kitchens around the world. With his focus on wholesome, fresh dishes made from scratch with as many local ingredients as possible, you’re sure to find the perfect match for your cravings on one of Hans’ internationally inspired menus. After all, the marriage of delicious food and mountain sports is in his blood!
