Explore Sun Peaks Resort’s extensive snowshoe trail system. Join a guided snowshoe tour or head out on your own adventure.

Snowshoe Rentals and trail passes

A snowshoe trail day pass is required to access the network. Reservations are not needed.

The trails are open exclusively to snowshoers due to winter conditions. Guests should dress in warm winter clothing—waterproof boots, snow pants, a jacket, toque, and gloves are strongly recommended. Snowboard boots and running shoes are not suitable.

Rentals are available daily at the Activities Sales Desk in the Village Day Lodge. A trail day pass is included with all rentals and tours booked through the desk.

With your pass and rental, you’ll also receive a complimentary trail map and interpretive guide booklet to help you select trails suited to your ability and discover points of interest such as the snow cave, bird feeding station, and animal tracks.

Snowshoe Trail Passes 2025-26

A snowshoe trail pass is required to access the network. Day passes ($5.50) are available online, at Guest Services, and at the Activities Desk. Season passes ($43) are available at Guest Services and the Activities Desk.

A snowshoe trail day pass is included with snowshoe rentals and tours booked through the Activities Sales Desk.

trail safety & etiquette

Discover Sun Peaks Adventures marks all trails with snowshoe signs and coloured flagging tape. 

  • Trails are for snowshoeing only.
  • Snowshoe trails are for daylight hours use only.
  • Snowshoeing off the marked trails can get you lost and/or subject you to unmarked hazards.
  • Do not leave garbage on the trails.
  • Stay well off the side of any Nordic ski trail.
  • When crossing Nordic ski trails avoid stepping in the groomed classic tracks.
  • Always take water, food, and extra clothes.

Experience a memorable Sun Peaks snowshoe tour with our professional guides. 

  • Snowshoe equipment and trail pass are included.
  • Proper waterproof winter boots are required; warm winter clothing is strongly recommended (snow pants, jackets, toque, and gloves).
  • Advance registration is required. Please arrive at the Activities Sales Desk at least 15 minutes before your tour to sign a waiver and collect gear.
  • Pets are not permitted on any snowshoe tours.
  • Tours are unavailable on December 24 and 25, 2025, and January 1, 2026.

Moonlight Snowshoe & S'mores

Experience the magic of a winter's night on a Moonlight Snowshoe Tour, including a delicious campfire treat of S'mores. Beginning with an easy 3km snowshoe tour and guided trek through beautiful forest trails, guests will then enjoy a roaring fire, hot apple cider and special S'mores at our cozy winter camp.

The return journey offers beautiful views overlooking the picturesque village and its sparkling lights! An experience for everyone to enjoy, families with children 8 years and older and adults young at heart will enjoy this evening under the stars.

Snowshoe Fondue

Join us for an exciting evening snowshoe under the stars. Our guides will take you through the forest on beautiful snow covered trails out to our cozy winter camp, to enjoy a hot drink relaxing around a roaring campfire. The return journey offers amazing views overlooking the village, finishing at the cozy Sun Peaks Lodge Fondue Stube for a delicious traditional cheese and chocolate fondue.

Winter Wonderland

Join a professional guide for a fun and informative two hour afternoon tour through the quiet snow covered terrain. The excursion begins with an introductory lesson followed by a history of snowshoeing, snowshoe technology and local lore.

Guests experience the natural habitat of local birds and animals. Stops are made at the bird feeding station, snow cave, and trapper’s camp where a hot apple cider drink and a trail treat are enjoyed.

A great introduction to the designated snowshoe trail system that has amazing views overlooking the village.

Alpine Snowshoe Experience 

Explore the spectacular sub alpine region of Sun Peaks with one of our professional guides on a fun and informative snowshoe tour on a beautiful route accessible only with a Discover Sun Peaks Adventures guide. This is a great way for non-skiers to discover Tod Mountain and enjoy amazing views.

On the trail, stop to enjoy a drink of hot apple cider and a trail treat. The tour concludes at Sunburst Mid Mountain, where your guide will accompany you back to the Village Day Lodge on the Sunburst Chairlift.

Valley of the Lynx

Join our local guides and explore the magical snowshoe trails in the tranquil East Valley of Sun Peaks. Experience the natural habitat of local birds and animals, including the elusive Canadian Lynx, and the Snowshoe Hare.

Look for wildlife tracks, and enjoy making fresh tracks of your own on fresh snow days! This is a great tour for anyone experiencing snowshoeing for the first time, or for experienced snowshoers ready to undertake their next adventure. Included is a visit to our snow cave, and time to relax at our cozy winter camp to enjoy hot apple cider, and trail treats.

McGillivary Lake Full Day

Join us for a day snowshoe adventure to McGillivray Lake. Explore the beautiful 12km of snowshoe trails starting from the Sun Peaks Village out to McGillivray Lake and back, with a local experienced snowshoe guide. Once at the lake, enjoy a picnic lunch and hot apple cider at the McGillivray Lake Outpost warming hut. This tour is recommended for guests with a strong level of fitness, with over 500ft of elevation gain on the journey out to the lake.

Dates are weather dependent. Applicable taxes will be added to all prices, which are listed in Canadian dollars. Dates and prices may change without notice, and some restrictions may apply. Snowshoe tours are not available on December 24, December 25 or January 1.

Cancellation policy: A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for a full refund, except between December 15 and January 5, when seven days’ notice is required. For group bookings of 10 or more, 21 days’ notice is required for a full refund at all times.
