All Lifts and All Three Mountains Open This Weekend!

Posted December 18, 2019

Thank you Mother Nature! After a slightly slower start than normal, winter has arrived with a bang here at Canada's second largest ski area. We've received 25cm of new snow (and counting!) over the past few days; the perfect early Christmas present!

Powder Skiing at Sun Peaks Resort
Pow turns galore over the past few days. Taken December 17 in Kookamungas.

All this snow, along with the hard work of our on-mountain crews, has allowed us to open more terrain and we're very excited to announce that both the Orient chairlift and the West Bowl T-Bar will be opening for the season this weekend. The Orient will open at 8:30am this Friday, December 20, followed by the West Bowl T-Bar at 10:00am on Saturday, December 21.

This means that as of Saturday every lift and all three of our mountains will be open for you to enjoy! You can check our Lifts & Trail Status page daily for live information on the exact runs available in each area.

Our Nordic network is now almost entirely open too, with the fresh snow allowing us to groom and track set the trails more regularly for your skiing pleasure.

Views from Mt Morrisey at Sun Peaks Resort
The beautiful views from Morrisey will be easy to access via the Orient. Taken December 14.
Snowboarding in Powder at Sun Peaks Resort
Plenty of fresh turns to be found out there. Taken December 17 in Gil's.
View of Sundance Mountain at Sun Peaks Resort
Most of Sundance, including some of the Terrain Park, is now open too. Taken December 14.

We're getting ready for another beautiful white Christmas in the mountains and we invite you to come celebrate the holidays with us. Your kids will love sledding, skiing, and breakfast with Santa, you can join Nancy Greene to spread festive cheer during Caroling in the Village, and our annual New Year's Eve Celebrations are the biggest party of the year! Restaurants throughout the village are also hosting special meals on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve.

Don't forget, this weekend (December 20 to 22) we're holding a food drive in support of the Kamloops Food Bank. Guest Services will be accepting non-perishable food donations each day, which will help support the important work the food bank does in our community over the busy holiday period.

Snowboarding in Powder at Sun Peaks Resort
Scoring fresh powder is our favourite holiday tradition. Taken December 17 in Gil's.

With more snow in the forecast this week, it's set to be a fantastic end to the year here in Sun Peaks. See you on the slopes!
