Sun Peaks Resort is thrilled to have been awarded the 2023 Employees First award at the BC Tourism and Hospitality Awards. This award recognizes an industry employer who has upheld high standards of excellence in HR practices, with a specific focus on mental health and wellness.
Our Director of Employee Experience, Helen Davies, accepted the award from go2HR’s Arun Subramanian at the 2023 BC Tourism & Hospitality Conference in Prince George.
It’s an honour to receive the Employees First award, as well as industry recognition, for the programs and support that we have put in place to further employee wellbeing and specifically address mental health in the workplace. But what matters most is the impact this has for our employees and what they are saying about it.

A recent employee engagement survey demonstrated the I’M WELL program, a comprehensive well-being program accessible to all employees, is resonating with our team.

Sun Peaks Resort is proud of what our Employee Experience team has accomplished so far, but acknowledge we still have more to do, both as a destination resort and as an industry.
Beyond programs and resources, there’s an opportunity for our sector leaders to think about what we do in our own day to day practices and behaviours that role model and nurture a culture of wellness and wellbeing at work for all.

It is rewarding to have our commitment to workplace well-being recognized by the BC Hotel Association (BCHA) and the Tourism Industry Association of BC (TIABC). However, this holistic program's positive impact on our team is what truly matters most.
