The holidays transform Sun Peaks into a winter wonderland that feels straight out of a Christmas movie (seriously, Netflix just filmed the Christmas romantic comedy “My Secret Santa” here last winter!). Snow covered rooftops, glowing lights, and mountain views make it easy to capture festive moments throughout the village and on the slopes.
Whether you’re hitting the mountain or wandering the village, here are some of the best spots to make holiday memories in Sun Peaks.
Walking around Sun Peaks Resort, you may recognize a few locations from the new Netflix top 10 hit movie, “My Secret Santa”!
For the holiday season, some festive movie set pieces are available at the Sun Peaks Centre to visit. Like a European Christmas village come to life, they make an amazing backdrop for holiday photos.
The Village Stage has been decorated for the holiday season to create the ultimate Christmas photo backdrop! Day or night, the stage decked with garlands and twinkling lights makes a great snowy setting for a family photo.
Just across the plaza from the Village Stage, you can enjoy festive treats like s'mores, hot chocolate, and holiday-themed martinis around the outdoor fire tables at Morrisey's patio.
Wait until night falls in Sun Peaks village for the most magical, Instagrammable backdrop to appear! Twinkling lights that shine across the village walkway light up the winter night, shining through snowcapped trees and cozy restaurants.
Indulge in a cocktail or a warming winter meal in the village once you've grabbed a few shots!
Follow the path up to the Sun Peaks Centre plaza for the jewel of the village: the giant Christmas tree! Gather here to make your holiday spirits bright and snap a joyful picture of your crew.
When snow falls on the covered bridge leading to Mt. Morrisey, it looks like a classic gingerbread house in a magical forest. Have a friend or family member snap a photo of you walking or skiing down the long bridge for an artistic and festive photo!
Skiers and riders will know that there is a fantastic group photo spot at the top of the Sundance chairlift. Head left off the chair to the top of two iconic Sun Peaks runs, Grannie Greene’s and Homesteader. Here, you’ll find a gigantic Sun Peaks sign that pops with blue and yellow over white snow and the stunning alpine view behind.
You’ll never forget where you were in this shot!
