Four skiers walking in a line with skis over shoulders in the Sun Peaks alpine

A ski holiday should be just that: a holiday!

With over 4,400 acres of skiable terrain, some guests will ski from first chair to last laps without stopping, but that’s not for everyone. For others, a long lunch in the sun, followed by a hot tub before après is just what the doctor ordered. And you know what? That doesn’t sound too bad either.

So come to Sun Peaks for the skiing and snowboarding. And return for the “peak moments” that sent you home rejuvenated, ready to face real life once more. As a proper vacation should. Sun Peaks at your leisure.

Peak Moment #1: 360° of Skiing

The Sun Peaks village is located in the centre of the resort's three mountains, providing 360 degrees of skiing from wherever you start your day.

You can catch a lift to any area you want right from the village and easily return to your home base, or rendezvous with your group, wherever you roam. Each chairlift has runs for all ability levels, from green groomers to advanced off-piste terrain, so your whole crew can get their fix and still easily meet up for the next lap. And the resort's layout allows skiers and even boarders to seamlessly move from one mountain to the next, and between different exposures and elevations, to find the best snow and grooming conditions.

Peak Moment #2: Après Through the Village

Ski and walk through the Bavarian-style village core to sample the local flavour of Sun Peaks après ski.

Glide right from the lift or kick off your ski boots and stroll through the pedestrian village, to sample locations ranging from sunny outdoor patios to cozy mountain-town pub vibes. Listen for the 3:00pm "Après Bells" on Fridays and join the local tradition featuring drink specials, games, and rotating venues.

Peak Moment #3: Ride Platter to Platter

The platter lifts are the first to open and the last to close. So if someone in your crew is frothing to squeeze every last drop out of the day, they can ride platter-to-platter and you can kick-back nearby.

In the mornings the platters bring the local kids to school on the mountain, and early-bird skier and boarders into position from around the resort to hit the day's first chairs. And when the lifts close up for the day, around the time the sun sets, the village platter keeps spinning late into the night to burn off any remaining energy. The lit slopes and well-stocked terrain park are visible from slopeside patios, pools and hot tubs.

Peak Moment #4: Sun Peaks Beach Club

Sun Peaks averages 2,000+ hours of sunshine a year and winter temperatures of -5°C. With all that sunshine and plenty of room to roam at your own pace, Sun Peaks has a relaxed pace that might just rival your last beach vacation.

Pack a picnic for an afternoon of panoramic views in the alpine, where the resort's Top of the World summit area view extends well beyond the next peaks of its size nearly 60km away as the crow flies. Or pull up a chair at the slope-side Beach Club for a cold one or hot snack. No lines in the morning, tan lines in the afternoon.

Peak Moment #5: The Burfield Chair

It was the first one here in the 1960's, and continues to haul skiers from the resort's entrance gates to the Top of the World summit area at roughly the same speed today. Servicing nearly 900 metres of skiable vert and reaching 2,080 metres into the sky, don't miss riding "The Burf" at least once.

It's got character. It's got access. It's got... quirk? You might love it or you might only ride it once, but to hop aboard the Burf is to ride back in time and local history: the fall line feels classic, the chair moves slow, the OG day lodge still buzzes, and runs range from green to double-black from the Top of the World.
