2025 Bike Park Operations Notice

Due to ongoing construction of the municipal waterline on Sundance mountain, the following trails will be closed on Wednesday, September 3, for an anticipated 1-day closure:

• Melhouse, Bad Habit, Might As Well, Lower Super Nugget (from Old Homesteader Rd. down)
• Note: Upper Super Nugget will remain open, with rider reroute to Stella Blue. Please watch for and obey all signage.

Due to the ongoing waterline construction project on Sundance Mountain, please note the following for the coming days:  

• Re-Opened: Level Up and Morning Dew are re-opened as of Thursday, August 28, (lower section of Level Up will now be included in the below re-route).
• Re-route: in place for Bad Habit, Super Nugget, Might As Well, and Level Up, located near the bottom of the mountain onto a temporary trail leading to the top of the Progression Park/Bike Park carpets (conveyor lifts). Anticipated removal of the re-route is Saturday.
• Closures: Pinball Wizard, Bonus Level and Dungeon Crawl in the Progression Park will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Please use caution in this area and watch for new signage.

Due to the ongoing waterline construction project on Sundance Mountain, please note the following closures:

Friday, August 22 – Level Up and Morning Dew remain closed today. Bad Habit, Super Nugget, and Might As Well reroutes remain in place at the bottom part of the mountain, onto a temporary trail leading to the top of the Progression Park/Bike Park Carpets (conveyor lifts). Please use caution when approaching this area and watch for new signage.

Saturday & Sunday – No trail closures in effect.  

Monday, August 25 & Tuesday, August 26 – The same closures will again be in effect, as listed above, for an anticipated 2-day closure.

Due to the ongoing waterline construction project on Sundance Mountain, Level Up and Morning Dew will be closed starting Monday, August 18. This closure is expected to last for five days. Level Up will be fully closed from top to bottom.

During this time, novice riders can access the following green trails: Easy Wind (Sundance Mountain) and Switcheroo (Tod Mountain).

Reroutes in effect starting Tuesday, August 19: During the above closures, where Bad Habit, Super Nugget and Might As Well intersect at the bottom of the mountain, these trails will be rerouted onto a temporary trail leading to the top of the Progression Park/Bike Park Carpets (conveyor lifts). Please use caution when approaching this area and watch for new signage.

Due to the ongoing waterline construction project on Sundance Mountain, Level Up and Morning Dew will be closed starting Monday, August 18, for an anticipated five-day closure through Friday. Level Up will be fully closed, top-to-bottom. During this time, novice riders can access the following green trails: Easy Wind (Sundance Mountain) and Switcheroo (Tod Mountain).

Reroutes in affect: During the above closures, where Bad Habit, Super Nugget and Might As Well intersect at the bottom of the mountain, these three trail will be rerouted onto a new temporary trail, taking riders to the top of the Progression Park/conveyor lift. Please exercise caution when approaching this area and watch for new signage.

This summer, there will be an ongoing municipal water line construction project* on Sundance Mountain that will impact access to a few downhill bike trails. Impacts on specific trails** will be temporary, short term, and at intermittent intervals and will be communicated in advance to the best of our ability. The Bike Park trail crew will strive to use alternative access points and other creative solutions where possible, to minimize the length of time for trail closures. 

To help you plan, detailed trail information will be communicated through the Sun Peaks Resort lift and trail status webpage, Bike Park social media channels, and within the Bike Park (signage, etc.) as updates are made available to the Resort. There will always be a green and blue trail available from the top of Sundance Mountain. Most of the Sundance zone of the Bike Park will be unimpacted at any given time; bike trails on Tod Mountain will be unaffected. 

Check back for more information when the Bike Park opens in June. We thank you in advance for your patience with us this summer!

*An in-ground water line will be under construction, to connect the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality reservoir (located past the top of Sundance Mountain) to the municipal water system in the valley. Sun Peaks Resort is working with the Sun Peaks Municipality and the project management company with the goal of minimizing trail closures and length of closures to the best of our ability.  

**Anticipated impacts to trails include: the top section pod of Morning Dew, Stella Blue, and Super Nugget (and Big Rock Ride XC), the mid-mountain pod of Super Nugget, Might As Well, and Bad Habit, and a lower section of Level Up and Super Nugget. Closures/alternative access will be temporarily and take place at varied times throughout summer operations. A detailed construction plan from the contractor is not yet available, and will be subject to change.
