Nancy is well known to skiers and non-skiers alike, not only for her remarkable athletic career but also for her dedication to developing and promoting skiing, especially in BC. As Canada’s top ski racer through the 1960s, she won gold and silver at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics.
In addition to her 13 World Cup victories (still a Canadian record), Nancy has paired her talent with a long-standing commitment to building the ski community and supporting young racers. She and her husband, Al Raine, played a key role in the development of Nancy Greene’s Olympic Lodge in Whistler and Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge here in Sun Peaks, both of which helped their resorts grow into the vibrant ski communities they are today. Throughout her life, she has remained deeply involved in ski racing through coaching, volunteering and supporting organizations such as the Nancy Greene Ski League, where she serves as honorary chair.
Her contributions to the sport earned her the title of Canada’s Female Athlete of the Century in 1999. Nancy continues to take an active role in the ski community and remains a passionate advocate for inspiring the next generation of skiers.
