Top of the World
Elevation: 2,080m
Every mountain is a laboratory. Every descent is an experiment.
Sun Peaks Resort is excited to partner with Teton Gravity Research (TGR) to present the premiere of Actually, It Is Rocket Science at Masa's Bar + Grill!
The newest chapter in TGR's more than three-decade study of skiing follows the world's best skiers across some of the planet's wildest terrain, exploring the speed, gravity, instinct, calculation, and consequence behind every descent.
The film travels from Bute Inlet, British Columbia, and Haines, Alaska, to Japan, Finland, Andorra, Montana, Jay Peak, Vermont, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, bringing together massive mountain lines, technical terrain, deep snow, high-speed progression and the personalities that continue to push the sport forward.
“Actually, It Is Rocket Science plays with the idea of what is and isn’t when it comes to skiing. It’s a little tongue-in-cheek because we’re not literally building rockets, but there’s a real question underneath it. Some athletes lean into analytics and calculation, while others rely on feel and instinct. And when you consider everything that goes into making a ski film, the parallels start to show. From the mountains to the office, it’s a 12-month, all-hands-on-deck effort where everyone from athletes to interns plays an equally important role, or the mission fails.”
