Aerial village and mountain with ski runs

Updated December 21, 2023

The alpine awaits! As an early Christmas present for Sun Peaks skiers and snowboarders, we’re happy to share that the Burfield and Crystal chairlifts will open for the season on Friday, December 22. Both lifts will run daily as per regular operating hours.

We recommend sticking to Burfield Mid-Station and Crystal to access the available alpine terrain, however the Burfield Chairlift will also load from the bottom for use by guests and residents in the western end of the valley. Ski access back to the bottom of the Burfield chairlift will be limited. We encourage the use of the In-Resort Shuttle from the Village Day Lodge back to the lower Burfield area as an alternative at this time.

The new P1 parking lot at the base of the Burfield chairlift is now open for use, including the new warming hut and washroom building. Step back in time to the Tod Mountain days when you open the door of this new building, which features a display of historical images and memorabilia created in partnership with the Sun Peaks Historical Society. The P1 warming hut is open daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The majority of our Nordic skiing network is now open. Please note that due to current conditions dogs and fat bikes are not permitted on the Nordic trails at this time. We haven’t forgotten about our furry friends, however there are a few sections of the dog friendly trails that require more snow before we can open them. We look forward to welcoming your four-legged ski buddies as soon as conditions allow us to open these areas and complete the dog friendly route.

The holidays are magical in the mountains. Celebrate Christmas and News Year’s with our lineup of festive events. Happy Holidays and see you on the slopes!

Thank you Ullr! With the help of fresh snow over the weekend, the Morrisey Express chairlift, Morrisey Platter, and Orient chairlift will open for the season on Wednesday, December 13. All three lifts will run daily as per their regular hours of operation.

Available terrain will continue to be limited until the next major snowfall, but due to the on-going hard work of our operations team more runs will be open on Sundance this week in addition to the runs opening on Morrisey. The terrain accessed by the Orient chairlift and Morrisey Platter will be more limited, however these lifts will operate to provide access into and out of the East Village area of the resort.

You can check our live Lifts & Trail Status page tomorrow morning for the full list of what will be open.

If you are looking for winter fun off the slopes, the majority of our Nordic trail network is now open and being groomed regularly. Several snowshoe trails are also open and the complimentary toboggan area near P5 is available for use. Please note, due to limited snow cover dogs and fat bikes are not permitted on the Nordic trails at this time.

We have good news for terrain park fans too. Our Park Crew has been busy in ‘The Garden’ on Sundance, installing several new features this week. With 12 features currently open and 13 planned by the weekend, Park Crew has checked in around the province and are pretty confident we are currently offering the biggest park in BC!

Alpine Day Tickets will continue at 50% off until December 8. From December 9 onwards we will revert to our regular ticket pricing – where you can save up to 40% when you buy online, in advance. The forecast for this weekend looks promising. Let it snow!

Updated December 5, 2023

Due to the hard work of our on-mountain teams and a helping hand from Mother Nature, we are happy to announce that the Sundance Express chairlift will open for the season on Wednesday, December 6. The Sundance Express will operate daily from 8:30am to 3:45pm.

Terrain on Sundance will be limited, with Upper Homesteader (to 5 Mile) and Sundance open. Alpine lift tickets will continue at 50% off until December 8, with limited quantities available each day.

Early season conditions are present on the mountain. Please respect all terrain closures for your safety. Hazards including active snow making and grooming equipment, as well as limited snow coverage, are currently present in closed areas. Guests found accessing closed terrain will have their skiing/snowboarding privileges suspended.

The Nordic trail network remains closed at this time, but we are hopeful that we will have good news to share on that front soon.

It seems Ullr has been elusive, with no snowfall this past week. Skiing/snowboarding will continue on 5 Mile (Lower), Cahilty, Gentle Giant and Sunbeam, alpine lift tickets will continue at 50% off until December 8, with limited quantities available each day.

The Nordic trail network remains closed.

Early season conditions are present on the mountain. We kindly ask guests to make responsible choices and observe all terrain closures, currently in place for everyone's safety, including our on-mountain teams.

Our dedicated operations teams are working tirelessly, and we plan to open more lifts and runs as soon as conditions permit. Your safety is our priority.

We still need a little more help from Ullr before we can open more lifts and alpine terrain. At this time, skiing will continue on 5 Mile (Lower), Cahilty, Gentle Giant and Sunbeam. Due to the limited terrain, alpine lift tickets are 50% off until December 1. To help ensure a positive guest experience, the quantity of lift tickets available each day is currently limited.

The Nordic trail network will remain closed until we see more snow.

REMINDER: We ask that guests exercise good judgement and refrain from entering closed trails and terrain. More lifts and runs will open as soon as conditions permit and we’re working diligently to help make this happen.

Think snow!

Opening Day is upon us! The snow has been a little slow to arrive this year, but that’s not going to stop us from being stoked about first turns, this Saturday (November 18) as scheduled. Terrain will be limited but our operations team has been working tirelessly around the clock to ensure we kick off the 2023-24 season.

We also would like to remind everyone to please stay off the mountain before opening day.

We know there are some keeners out there who love to claim first chair bragging rights via a chilly night of camping. You are welcome to head to the lift early in the morning to stake your claim (make sure to bring some breakfast supplies!).

NORDIC OPERATIONS

While our operations team has performed miracles to open the alpine for skiers/riders, unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans for the Nordic trail network. At this time, the Nordic trail network will remain closed until we see more accumulations of snow.

We ask that all Nordic skiers, fat bikers and hikers remain off the Nordic trail network and as more snowfall arrives trail opening timeline will be updated.

SEASON PASS AND LIFT TICKET PICK UP

If possible, we strongly encourage you to pick up your season pass or pre-purchased ticket before opening day. That way you can head straight to the lift on Saturday and avoid any potential wait.

If you are a returning pass holder or purchased lift tickets last winter, remember that our Mountain Cards can be re-used indefinitely, and the same card can be re-loaded with season passes or lift tickets over multiple years. If you already have a Mountain Card and chose the option to re-load it while purchasing your pass, then your 2023-24 access has automatically been loaded onto your existing card, leaving you free to head directly to the lift on Saturday.

RESORT SERVICES

Guest Services, Sports School for lessons, Rental and Retail locations, and Food and Beverage outlets are ready to welcome our guests this weekend.

APRÈS AND ALES EVENT

Is there a better way to celebrate the new season by following up a day on the slopes and partying your ski boots off?! We've teamed up with Granville Island Brewing to bring you a cold can of their finest at Masa's Bar + Grill on Saturday, November 18. Details can be found here. Stick around after the event to check out a free film screening of “Abstract: A Freeski Exhibition” – more details can be found here.

Let it snow!
