Apres Bells: A New Tradition in Sun Peaks

The après-ski tradition

From champagne in Chamonix to ramen in Japan, après-ski is one of the world's great ski resort traditions. Born in the ski villages of Norway and named in the French Alps in the '50s, après-ski (literally "after skiing") describes that cozy time in the late afternoon when the heart of the village comes alive.

After a satisfying day on the slopes, snow lovers trickle down from the mountains and pour into the village bars, restaurants, and shops with rosy cheeks to meet friends and family and warm up over snacks and beverages.

What do the Après Bells mean in Sun Peaks?

Whether you’re squeezing in a few more runs or browsing the village shops, you’ll hear the Après Bells chime in Sun Peaks at 3:00 pm. You know happy hour—now get ready for a mountain-inspired twist. Local restaurants, bars, and cafés will amp up the music, dim the lights, and set the stage for a lively après scene.

Build your perfect Après Bells tour

Après Bells is on every single day in winter, from chill weekdays to energetic weekends. Plan your après-ski itinerary to give your legs a rest and satisfy every post-mountain craving. Après is important here in Sun Peaks — that’s why you’ll find so many fantastic spots to enjoy it.

3:00 pm - The Après Bells Chime

The Après Bells come as a welcome cue to find a cozy spot in the village for refreshments after a long day in the snow. A great meeting place to hit your first round of après is the Umbrella Café, located at the base of the Mt. Morrisey and the Orient chairlift.

A yellow umbrella stretches over an enclosed café in winter with a red OPEN sign.

Recap the day's adventures over a warm drink, then hop on the Orient or Morrisey chairlifts just before closing for an easy ski or board back to the village centre.
