Join Sun Peaks Resort as we Scavenge the Summit in an action-packed challenge through the alpine. Heads up; the more you explore, the greater your chances of winning some awesome prizes!
Lace up your shoes, slap on your sunscreen, start stretching, and make sure your phone is charged and ready to Scavenge the Summit! Whether you hike our 2k Vista Trail or decide to hike the whole mountain, you'll still be in with a chance to win prize packs worth $400 from Helly Hansen and over $150 from Sun Peaks Spa!

When is the scavenger hunt happening?
The scavenger hunt runs Friday to Sunday, August 1 to 3, during lift operating hours.
Where do I start?
Take the Sunburst Chairlift up, register at the registration tent, take a photo of the checkpoint map, and begin your hike from there! Look out for QR code checkpoints throughout the trails. P.s. there are some checkpoints at the bottom of the lift, but we recommend you grab a photo of the map first!
How do I register to participate?
Scan the registration QR code at Beacon Basin (top of Sunburst Chair) from 10:00am each day, and fill in your details. It only takes a minute!
I scanned some QR codes while hiking and didn’t know what they were - can I still join?
Yes! To be eligible for prizing, all participants must be registered. Registration is available Friday through Sunday 10:00am until 6:00pm at the Beacon Basin, located at the top of Sunburst Chairlift.
What can I win?
There are multiple grand prizes! You could win:
- Grand prize - $400 worth of gear from Helly Hansen
- Runner-up prize - $150+ in spa goodies from Sun Peaks Spa
Do I have to scan all checkpoints to be eligible to win?
Nope! Each checkpoint = 1 entry (no duplicate entries allowed).
E.g. If you scan 10, you get 10 entries. If you scan 1, you still have a shot - just with 1 entry. The hunt runs all weekend, so do your best to collect all 30 checkpoints across the 3 days!
When are THE winners announced?
After the event ends on Sunday, August 3, we’ll draw the lucky winners for each day, and contact them throughout the week via email.
I don’t have cell service / my phone didn’t work — what should I do?
Don't forget to take a selfie or picture of the checkpoint to legitimize your entry. Keep the tab open. Once you revive your phone and wifi capabilities, you can re-enter them before the cut-off time of 6:00pm Sunday, August 3rd.
If the QR codes are not working for your mobile device, please forward all checkpoints in an attachment to events@sunpeaksresort.com. Files too big? Send via a transfer site such as SwissTransfer.
Can I play more than one day?
Yes! Feel free to use all 3 days to gather all 30 checkpoints. NOTE: Limit is one entry, per checkpoint, per person (no duplicate entries allowed).
What should I bring or wear?
You will need a lift ticket valid for the day of your hike. We recommend comfortable shoes, water, your phone (with battery charged), and maybe a snack! Dress for the mountain weather; layers, sunglasses, headwear, and sunscreen are your friends.
What is the easiest trail?
We recommend the Vista Trail, which runs in a 1.5k loop. It's the perfect starting trail for beginners and little ones, and could land you two or more checkpoints!
