Three-day festival brings riders, families and fans together as mountain biking continues to shape summer travel in BC.
Sun Peaks, BC, August 18, 2026 - Mountain biking has become one of summer’s strongest reasons to travel in BC’s Interior and is a leading destination experience in Sun Peaks. This August, Sun Peaks Resort is leaning into that momentum with its annual Peaks Pedal Fest, a three-day celebration of riding, racing, music and mountain culture from August 28 to 30, 2026.
With Kamloops’ freeride legacy just down the road, long riding seasons (the Bike Park is open through the end of September) and a growing appetite for bike-focused getaways, mountain biking continues to shape how visitors experience the mountains in Sun Peaks. This experience extends from the lift-access Bike Park into a growing community trail network on Mt. Morrisey that is seeing an increase in ridership year over year.
Peaks Pedal Fest is designed for more than riders chasing race results. It’s a weekend for young athletes stepping into competition, families watching from the sidelines, local and visiting riders linking up for lift-access and pedal laps, gear testing, and spectators soaking up the late-summer buzz in the village.
The event arrives as mountain biking continues to play a larger role in how guests experience Sun Peaks in the summer. Riders are looking for destinations that offer more than trail networks alone. They want progression, events, après energy, approachable competition and a community around the ride. Peaks Pedal Fest brings those pieces together in a way that reflects where summer travel in the mountains is headed.
“Peaks Pedal Fest captures the best parts of bike season at Sun Peaks,” said Liz Wilkinson, Director of Events & Partnerships, Sun Peaks Resort. “There are opportunities for real progression and competition, but this weekend has a relaxed, welcoming feel. It brings young riders, local families, visiting guests, partners and spectators into the same space, and that is what makes the bike community so strong.”
Festival highlights include:
The Toyota Pacific Downhill Thrill is presented in partnership with Toyota Pacific, while Peaks Pedal Fest is also supported by Pepsi and Lone Tree Cider.
With a mix of youth racing, grassroots competitions, demos and entertainment, Peaks Pedal Fest is built to carry energy from the trails into the village. The Sun Peaks Junior DH gives aspiring riders aged 8 to 16 a chance to test themselves in a supportive race environment, while returning favourites like the Grass Dual Slalom and Foot Down Derby keep the tone playful, social and spectator-friendly.
Riders planning to hit the lift-access Bike Park during the festival are encouraged to purchase lift tickets online in advance for the best available savings. Full event details, registration information and tickets are available at Peaks Pedal Fest.
