In the delivery of our mission – ‘To provide the finest mountain resort experience’ – we are committed to fostering an environment grounded in accessibility, dignity, and opportunities for all guests.
Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP) works with the Sun Peaks Sports School to offer ski, snowboard, hike and bike instruction for guests of all ages with disabilities and special needs. Our certified instructors and trained guides help guests with both physical and cognitive disabilities to enjoy the beauty of our world class terrain. ASSP also welcomes guests with issues related to mental health, rehabilitation and ageing.

ASSP is a not-for-profit dedicated to creating accessible outdoor adventure experiences for people with disabilities and neurodiversity. ASSP empowers people of all abilities to experience the freedom, challenge, and joy of the outdoors.

The Village Stroll serves as the primary accessible route through Sun Peaks Village, connecting many accommodations, restaurants, shops, and resort services via a covered pedestrian walkway with accessible ramps.
The following buildings offer direct access from the Village Stroll and provide convenient connections to a variety of amenities throughout the village:
Please note that accessibility features may vary between individual businesses and facilities. Guests requiring specific route information are encouraged to contact Guest Services prior to their visit.

Winter weather conditions, including snow and ice, may affect accessibility throughout the village. While walkways are regularly maintained, some routes may be more challenging for guests using wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
The covered Village Stroll remains the primary route for accessing village amenities during winter. Guests should allow additional time for travel and exercise caution when navigating snow- or ice-covered surfaces.
Please note that the complimentary in-resort shuttle service is not wheelchair accessible.

Rooms
The Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre offers Partially Accessible Rooms. The Partially Accessible Rooms have lower tub ledges and grab bars. We offer shower stools on request. Our Partially Accessible Rooms have lower furniture and peephole. The Partially Accessible Rooms comes with either a King bed or two double beds. The room is 350 square foot and can accommodate a wheelchair (except that we do not have roll in showers). Our change rooms in the Hotel by the pool/fitness facility has a roll in shower, but it’s not completely private, as it is available to others who wish to use it as a change room.
Our Partially Accessible Rooms are located closer to the end of the hallway, closer to the stairs. In case of emergency, the elevator automatically shuts down. If the guests need assistance, we (or the emergency service workers) can assist quickly via the stairs.
Entrances
The Grand and The Residences both have motion sensor sliding doors at their upper entrances and wheelchair accessibility from the road. The lower entrance of The Residences is a motion-activated sliding door from the village stroll.
Rooms
Ground floor guest room available with wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Please get in touch with Nancy Greene's Cahilty Lodge if you would like to reserve this room.
All bathrooms in rooms at the Cahilty have grab bars around the bathtub.
Entrances
There is a ramp beside the front doors and customers can enter through the underground parking to use the elevator, which is easier than the ramp.

Sundance Lodge has ramp access in front of the lodge. Winter access can be difficult when conditions are snowy, please get in touch with Sundance Lodge for assistance with entering from the village.
Access from the back is level with the terrain but also may be affected by wintry conditions.

Entrances
Main Sun Peaks Lodge building has ramp access from the street side of the hotel. Access from Village Stroll is possible but may be hindered by wintry conditions.

Rooms
At the Hearthstone Lodge, two units have walk-in showers. Three units are equipped with smoke and fire alarm lights in the room that are linked to the fire alarm for any guests with hearing difficulties.
Entrances
Main entrance and exit have wheelchair height, button activated doors. Main entrance and exit have wheelchair friendly ramps. All door frames in the Hearthstone Lodge are wide enough for wheelchairs.
Large parking stall close to the elevators is reservable with prior notice.
Public Washrooms
An accessible toilet is available on the ground floor of the Hearthstone Lodge.
Booking and Check-in
Top of the Mountain staff can happily assist guests with booking properties over the phone and 100% of property information and check-in/access information are provided virtually, which is useful for anyone who uses a text-to-speech program (such as with vision challenges).
If someone has hearing challenges, 100% of the booking and check-in experience can be done online and fully by text as well.
We also have, from the months of November through April, a staff role we call "greeter" who go to our properties checking in each day to ask if guests need any in-person assistance. If guests pre-order lift tickets through the resort, we also deliver those to properties prior to guest check-in.
