FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Sun Peaks, B.C., August 19, 2025 – Labour Day long weekend in Sun Peaks is once again dedicated to mountain biking culture, a nod to the sport’s rapid growth in popularity, visitation, and trail development at the resort over the past several years. From Friday, August 29, to Sunday, August 31, Peaks Pedal Fest will feature participatory and spectator events that create a lively atmosphere for both riders and non-riders alike.
Launched in 2015 as a season wrap-up with a handful of activities, Peaks Pedal Fest has grown into a signature event weekend, now packed with unique races and community-focused events that draw riders from across the province.
The Sun Peaks Bike Park season, which used to come to a close at the end of the Labour Day long weekend, has gradually progressed to operating daily through the last Sunday of September from 10:00am to 5:00pm. This operations expansion has been driven by year-over-year growth in visitation, proving that continued trail diversification and investment has put Sun Peaks on the map as a premier biking destination.
“We’re proud to host a hallmark mountain biking event to close out the summer holidays. It’s the perfect opportunity for riding families to spend quality time together before the school year starts,” says Christina Antoniak, Director of Communications with Sun Peaks Resort. “New events were added last year – the Junior DH Champions and the Toyota Pacific Downhill Thrill – and our events team is already considering how to evolve the festival in years to come with innovative partnerships and activations. These days we see riders from age two to seventy on bikes, a phenomenal shift that’s enhancing both our community and local economy.”
Summer Stoke Series, Friday at 5:00pm - The second of three race days in the series. Anyone, any age, who rides a bike can join this fun, head-to-head pump track competition. All proceeds support local non-profits. (Final race: September 26)
Mullets for Movement, Friday 4:00 to 6:00pm - Stop by the mullet makeover tent, hosted by local hair stylist, Heidi MacGowan. By donation, with proceeds to Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association and Sun Peaks Skate Park Foundation.
Sun Peaks Junior DH Champions, Friday & Saturday - The only competition of its kind for ages 8-16. This event is designed for young riders to experience the world of downhill racing before entering the big leagues. Involves parent/coach participation, along with race plate, and for the winners, a special Sun Peaks keepsake.

Cross Country Bike Scavenger Hunt, Friday to Sunday - Ride through Sun Peaks’ alpine, Mt. Morrisey, and valley pedal-access trails. Find checkpoints along the way and scan to win prizes.
Grass Dual Slalom, Sunday – A long-standing Sun Peaks classic where high fives and good times rule. Only $5 to participate, with proceeds to local non-profits.
Foot Down Derby, Sunday – Kids-specific and open categories. Ride as long as you can without putting a foot down. Complimentary, with donations encouraged.
Demo Days, Saturday & Sunday - Visit village bike shops and test out the latest and greatest bikes.

Let the good times roll – Peaks Pedal Fest awaits!
Guests are also encouraged to explore Sun Peaks’ wide range of mountain biking lessons and tours. Whether it’s a first ride or advanced skills development, professional coaches help riders progress to their next level. Maps for both the Sun Peaks Bike Park downhill trails and the free community pedal-access trails are available online.
The village will also host a number of family-friendly events, including: free live music, the Bounce House Party, and an outdoor Family Movie Night at the Sun Peaks Centre, featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and Barbie.
