FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Sun Peaks Resort reschedules 2025-26 Winter opening day to Thursday, November 27

Sun Peaks, British Columbia, November 18, 2025 - Due to current mild conditions, Sun Peaks Resort has announced that it is rescheduling its opening day of the 2025-26 winter season to Thursday, November 27. While the resort has some snow at higher elevations, there is not enough to open for public skiing. With colder temperatures in the forecast, resort officials are optimistic about welcoming guests back to the slopes on November 27.

Guests who pre-purchased tickets, rentals or lessons between November 22 to 26 will receive an automatic full refund. For accommodation bookings, guests are encouraged to contact the property they booked with directly.

“Rarely do we have to postpone our opening weekend,” says Aaron Macdonald, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Sun Peaks Resort. “We have a fantastic summer grooming program where we cut brush and grass to allow us to open with less snow than other areas. This year with recent mild temperatures across the Pacific Northwest we have to delay opening until we have good conditions to offer our guests. It’s only a matter of time before the snow arrives, and we look forward to welcoming guests back soon!”

The rescheduled opening day remains weather-dependent, and evaluations are being made on a day-to-day basis. Guests looking for updates are asked to check the website, follow our Facebook and Instagram channels, and sign-up for the e-newsletter.

Sun Peaks was pleased to open the Nancy Greene International Race Centre to ski racing teams on Saturday, November 8, thanks to the new snow storage program and snowmaking system. Over the course of the winter, over 1,200 athletes will train at the centre, bringing a positive economic spinoff into the local community.

Coming off a record-breaking winter season in 2024-25, the winter ahead promises to be outstanding, with a packed events calendar and exciting new activations at restaurants throughout the village, details to be released soon.
