COVID-19 UPDATES 

COVID-19 Safety Practices 

Sun Peaks Resort is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our guests, staff and local residents. In an effort to provide a safe recreational experience we have implemented new measures and protocols throughout the Resort.

We encourage all guests to respect any current travel restrictions or other public health authority guidelines.

For the health and safety of fellow guests and staff, please do not visit:

  1. If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19. For symptom details visit BC Centre for Disease Control.
  2. If you have travelled outside of Canada and returned within the last 14 days. You are not be permitted to visit until you have self-isolated for 14 days. 
  3. If you live in a household with someone who has COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone sick/infected with COVID-19.

while in resort

While visiting Sun Peaks Resort and our facilities please:

  • Follow physical distancing guidelines of 2 metres (6 feet)
  • Follow limited occupancy signage posted on storefronts
  • Follow direction from staff (if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask)
  • Use tap payment when possible

If you are unable to follow the guidelines and protocols, you will be asked to leave the premises.

Lift Lines and Chairlifts

Guests are asked to follow the direction of physical distancing signage while in lift lines and ride with those you came with.

Lift Lines - Face Coverings Are Required

Face coverings are required in all lift lines. Face coverings will also be required while riding all chairlifts and surface lifts.

 

Riding the Chairlift

Guests who are travelling, hiking or biking together can be seated together on chairlifts. To ensure the safety of all guests and staff, groups of guests will not be seated with people outside of their bubble. Two unrelated singles may ride lifts together, sitting on opposite sides of the quad chairlift. However, singles will not be required to ride with another guest if they are not comfortable and would prefer to ride alone.

We ask all guests to avoid congregating in large groups outside of lift lines, or in lift unloading areas, and take advantage of our wide-open spaces to enjoy safely!

 

GUIDELINES FOR MOUNTAIN BIKERS

  • Bike passes/tickets should be attached to handle bars of bikes
  • Please leave full face helmets on or use a face covering
  • Please leave gloves on or use hand sanitizer provided
  • Follow ticket checkers and lift operators’ instructions
  • Ask for help if uncertain about loading lift or loading bikes
  • Chairs on lifts are being disinfected on a daily schedule

  • A mask or face covering is recommended in lift lines

  • Ask for help if uncertain about loading or unloading chairlift
  • Passes should be held at arm’s length for ticket checkers

The Golf Course at Sun Peaks Resort 

Please review the following COVID-19 Best Practices for the Golf Course. Players are required to follow these guidelines:

TEE TIMES & SANITIZATION PRACTICES

  • Tee times are 10 minutes apart.
  • Booking in advance is required and can be made online or over the phone.
  • An email address, phone number and credit card will be required to book.
  • On-going cleaning and disinfecting measures in place for common touch points; power carts, clubs, handles, credit card machines, countertops, pens, etc.
  • A variety of cleaning products will be used including commercial grade disinfectant, and alcohol based.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the pro shop and facilities.

FACILITIES

  • Golf Shop: Please follow any direction from staff
    • Face Masks are REQUIRED when indoors at all times.
    • Maximum of 8 guests in the golf shop at a time.
    • Use hand sanitizer before entry.
    • No refunds or exchanges will be issued.
  • The Driving Range is CLOSED, we apologize for any inconvenience
  • Washrooms: Village Day Lodge (for opening) and the Umbrella Café after Hole #10.
  • Food & Beverage: Café Soleil before your round. Masa’s Clubhouse for off-sales after 11:00am. On course call ahead from Hole #9 to the Umbrella Café 250.578.3652, located after Hole #10.

ARRIVALS

  • Confirm the golf shop is not at maximum occupancy before entering and sanitize hands.
  • Maintain physical distancing of 2 metres/6 feet at all times on and off the course.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available. We recommend you bring your own hand sanitizer and wipes for peace of mind.

ON COURSE

  • Only touch/handle your own equipment (clubs, balls, gloves, carts). Bunker rakes have been removed. Use foot to level the surface.
  • Sand and seed bottles, and ball washers have been removed.
  • DO NOT touch flagstick. Arrangements have been made for easy ball retrieval.
  • DO NOT congregate on tee decks and greens.
  • Practice continuous putting until the ball is holed.
  • Instead of handshakes/high fives, try a bow or happy dance. Get creative!

AFTER PLAY

  • Return cart to designated area. Please remove all garbage and personal belongings. Garbage/recycling bins will be provided.

SUN PEAKS REsort RENTAL & RETAIL OPERATIONS

Face masks will be required when guests are inside all Sun Peaks operated retail locations including Elevation Bike Ski & Board, The North Face Mountain Outfitters, Three Peaks, Fall Line Tuning and Repair Centre, John Tod Trading Co., and Southside Board Shop. 

Specific information regarding rental facilities can be found below, otherwise guests should follow the instructions from signage and staff at all retail locations.

Elevation Bike, Ski & Board

All rental reservations will be online, with rider specific information collected, required waivers completed, and all payment information collected through the online booking process. Rental pick up times will be selected online. 

Rental returns will be facilitated through an outdoor location, eliminating the need for guests to re-enter the building.

Rental and retail space at Elevation Bike, Ski & Board has been separated, to reduce congestion and improve the flow of guests in both the retail shop and the rental area. The rental area will service one group or family at a time, with no exceptions. 

Fall line tuning and repair centre

Booking a Service

  • Appointments can be made by calling Fall Line directly at 250.578.5580.
  • At this time, we ask that customers do not enter the shop. In the event you are permitted to enter, only one person (or family unit) permitted in the shop at a time.
  • Due to high demand, turn around time for services and repairs may be longer than normal.  

Dropping Off and Picking Up Your Bike

Drop Off:

  • Please place the bike in the rack outside the sliding doors to Fall Line/The Sun Peaks Grand ski valet area, call the shop, and wait for a mechanic to meet you outside.
  • Once outside, we will diagnose and discuss the service required on your bike.

Pick Up:

  • We will call you when your service has been completed and arrange a pick up time.
  • Payment (via credit card) can be taken at this time as well.
  • Please call the shop from outside when you arrive and a mechanic will disinfect your bike and bring it out to you.
  • Long distance high fives are encouraged!

Retail from Fall Line

Due to part shortages, limits may be in place on select bicycle parts. These restrictions are subject to change as we assess our inventory requirements for the summer. Thank you for your understanding.

The Sun Peaks Grand Hotel and Conference Centre

Effective March 29, 2021, The Sun Peaks Grand Hotel is no longer accepting new reservations for the remainder of the 2020-21 season. All existing reservations made prior to March 29, 2021, will be honoured.

The Residences at the Sun Peaks Grand will continue regular operations. Residence owners and guests are asked to please follow all procedures and posted signage.

The hotel has modified several operating procedures to ensure the health and safety of all guests and staff is the top priority. For additional information on your stay at the Sun Peaks Grand, please see the arrival and stay guide.

Resort Accommodation

For all other resort accommodators, please contact your accommodation provider for their specific operating policies and safety procedures.

Suspended Services

Due to safety concerns regarding distancing and sanitation, the following activities are unfortunately suspended for summer 2021.

Events with over 50 attendees, with the exception of competition events where physical distancing can be maintained. Competition spectators are not permitted.
