Youth downhill mountain bike race at Sun Peaks, BC

Join us at Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia for the Sun Peaks Junior DH, a youth-focused downhill mountain bike race for riders aged 8 to 16. Taking place August 28 to 29, 2026, this event gives young athletes the opportunity to experience a professionally run downhill race on Sun Peaks’ lift-accessed bike park terrain.

This junior downhill mountain bike race in BC is designed for young riders looking to build skills, gain race experience, and compete in a fun, supportive environment. It’s the perfect stepping stone for aspiring riders working toward higher-level competition.

All participants will receive a race plate to keep, and winners will receive a Sun Peaks keepsake.

Forecasted schedule: practice and race times
Friday, August 28 — Practice (option 1) from 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Saturday, August 29 — Practice (option 2) from 10:30am to 1:00pm
Saturday, August 29 — Competition and race from 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Date: August 28 to 29, 2026
Check-in/Plate pick-up: August 28, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm or August 29, 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at the base area between the Sundance and Sunburst chairlifts
Riders meeting: August 29, 1:00 pm, at the base area
Race start: August 29, 2:00 pm
Cost: $50 CAD (online payment after registering)
Ages: 8 to 16

Details may be subject to change. Participants will be notified of any updates by email prior to the event. Last-minute registration may be available at the Registration and Information Station at the base, depending on availability.

Additional details will be shared by email following Friday’s practice once categories have been assigned.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Helmets are mandatory, so don't forget your lid.
• Participants must have a parent or guardian complete a release of liability upon their behalf at the time of plate pick-up.
• Participants must attend at least one practice session and complete a minimum of two marked runs. Failure to do so will result in removal from competition.
• No exceptions will be made.

Participants qualify for a special event lift ticket on August 29 and 30, 2026. Details will be announced soon.
