Out From Behind the Glass

Join us for a special premiere performance evening featuring the multi-media and live musical works of local songwriter Colleen Hannigan.

Through short documentary film, music videos, and intimate live performances—accompanied by a sprinkling of Sun Peaks artists and musicians—Colleen brings to life familiar places in pieces such as Five Mile Down, Barriere Waltz, Here Barriere Grew and Carpe Diem.

With her warm folk/country style and over 50 years of lived experience woven into every lyric, Colleen invites you to step out from behind the glass and share in a night of stories, songs, and community.

Assorted snacks and refreshments, including limited beer and wine choices, will be available for purchase. We will also have some local ArtZone artists’ works relating to one of her songs on display and possibly for sale. Come on out and join the fun! Be social!

About Colleen Hannigan

Colleen Hannigan’s first solo performance of her own music was at her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary celebration back in the late ‘70s, while a student at the Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario. Discovering neither a career as a classical vocalist nor music teacher was her calling, she switched to math and science, which finally led to a diploma in recording engineering. After a short stint at CBC Radio in downtown Toronto, she instead chose to embark on a 30-year career in the rural municipal sector, primarily split between Huntsville, Ontario and Barrière, BC. Living on and off the mountain here at Sun Peaks for the last 20 years has inspired her to revive her songwriting and recording and dabble in video production. Retirement in 2020 now affords her the time to enter a more creative phase at her leisure. She and her husband Brian spend their summers on Manitoulin Island, freshwater sailing the North Channel of Lake Huron out of Little Current, Ontario.
