Just before you reach Sun Peaks, a small turn off the road leads to a big discovery: Honeyberry Farm Market, a family-run farmstand offering fresh, spray-free produce and one of B.C.’s most unique superfruits - the haskap berry.
Also known as a honeyberry, the haskap is native to Russia, Japan, and northeast China, and known in Japanese as the “berry of longevity and fruit of vision.” With a taste described as a mix of blueberry, blackcurrant, and raspberry, it’s tart, bold, and packed with flavour.
Beyond flavour, these berries are a nutritional powerhouse, boasting three times more antioxidants than blueberries and more vitamin C than an orange. They’re also rich in vitamin A, potassium, and fiber, with only 60 calories per 2/3 cup.
At Honeyberry Farm, the seasonal U-Pick experience allows visitors to hand-pick fresh berries in early July for just $ 6 per pound, or opt for ready-picked berries at $10 per pound. You’ll also find haskap berries transformed into special jams and syrups.
Located on family land dating back to 1962, Honeyberry Farm Market is operated by Glenn Johnson and Mary Marchuk. Beyond berries, the market sells farm-fresh eggs, garlic jellies like the popular “Stinky Rose,” and locally milled honey. There are picnic tables, a kid-friendly tractor, and even a few farm animals.
Whether you're stocking up on unique superfruits or looking for an authentic stop on your way to the mountains, Honeyberry Farm Market is a true taste of local.

Our charming mid-mountain chapel was constructed in 1999 by Peter Stumboeck, the owner and operator of Sun Peaks Lodge at the time. Peter felt strongly that Sun Peaks should have a chapel and pursued the idea bringing it to life and the enchanting fairy tale chapel was built. Authentic in nature and true to form, the bell that sits atop the chapel was brought from Bavaria and the paintings throughout the chapel are the works of Rudi Schmid, also of Bavarian descent.
The mid-mountain chapel was named after a dear friend of Peter Stumboeck, Franz Brandstetter, who passed away in a hiking accident around the time the chapel was built. To honour his friend, Peter devoted the chapel to him and named it Franziskus Chapel. Saint Franziskus, a German monk, was a patron of the animals in Germany and he also protects our animals, who are depicted in the paintings throughout the chapel. In 2000 Peter Stumboeck passed away, and the chapel and hotel are now operated by Mario and Silvia Erler, of Germany.
Currently, the chapel is used during the ski season to celebrate Mass on Sundays and Christmas. Year round, it is available for weddings and is booked through the Sun Peaks Lodge.

As British Columbia entered what would become the hottest summer on record, Sun Peaks Resort had already taken proactive measures earlier in the year to significantly reduce water consumption on its golf course. By implementing a comprehensive range of strategies and innovative initiatives, the resort successfully cut water usage by millions of liters. These efforts led to an impressive 64% reduction in overall water consumption by August 2023, demonstrating Sun Peaks’ commitment to environmental stewardship and resource conservation during a critical time.
Sun Peaks Resort is the first ski area in Canada to employ a one-of-a-kind approach to snow farming and storage, using a system developed by Finnish company, Snow Secure. This innovative snow management program aims to ensure reliable early-season alpine ski training in Sun Peaks, by harvesting and preserving snow through the spring, summer, and fall.
The project uses a patented, insulated mat technology developed by Snow Secure to preserve a massive snow pile collected on the OSV (Österreichischer Skiverband) ski run on Tod Mountain. Sun Peaks will save 1.5 million gallons of snowmaking water, which they will be able to use in other critical areas of their snowmaking operation.
The snow storage project works in concert with a new multi-million-dollar investment in upgrading the existing Sun Peaks snow making system, that started in summer 2024 and will take place over the next few years. This upgrade includes adding new, more efficient snow guns into the fleet, employing on-board weather monitoring stations for automation, and upgrades to in-ground infrastructure.
